   About Malody
Malody are Mark and Alan from Watford, Herts. We started playing together by accident New Years Eve 2006. We decided to carry on the party with some weekly jamming sessions and have ended up having quite an extensive playlist - which grows by the week! We now gig regularly in the Watford area and our acoustic set includes a wide range of covers old and new including Oasis, The Jam, Paul Weller, the Eagles, the Beatles and the Plain White T's. We are available for private hire so contact us if you are interested, hopefully we'll get some sounds posted soon. Either Let us entertain you or join us at the mic and entertain your friends if you think you’ve got what it takes!!

Our gigs are listed in Gig Guide Ltd

Alan's new project is now up and running and gigging again. Watch out for RiffRaff in an area near you. We are playing a charity gig at Northwood Tennis Club on Sunday May 24th to raise funds for a local MS charity and all and any are welcome. It's going to be a lazy stroll through our new set of songs old and new ranging from Green Day to Eric Clapton including songs from the Police Westlife (yes you did see Weslife) well someone's got to haven't they. The beatles and the Modfather all feature heavily. John sings these in a style of his own and each song has it's own feel with a RiffRaff stamp put on it for good measure

The new site will be open soon so kepp watching as RiffRaff are ready to rock! Lol

What a difference a year makes or so they say!!!!! Not the New Year message I was expecting to be posting but there you go... Malody in their original format are no more. 2 days before a New Year's Eve gig Mark decides he doesn't want to "do this anymore" and decides to let me know by text! I can tell you it made for one of the frostiest gigs I have ever played and one of the weirdest New Years Eves I've ever had! To say my heart wasn't quite in it is a bit of an understatement! I guess it's not hard to understand why I'm not the happiest chappy in the land at the moment. 2 year's hard slog wasted is the way I see it but there you go. Anyway less of that if there are any singers or singer/guitarists out there in the Watford area looking to form an acoustic duo or a band looking for a new guitarist then let me know. I've a number of gigs currently booked including a good Valentines gig that I would prefer not to lose and a number of contacts that I have cultivated and want to keep so if anyone wants to make contact then you know where I am.
As I've said before one day you get chicken the next you get feathers well it seems that at the moment I've got a shit load of feathers on my hands that are F**k all use to anyone!!!! What a start to 2009 things can only get better!!! I'll be back MY TIME isn't done!!!!!!

Well what is it they say..."one day you get feathers the next you get chicken". Since our last post there's been a fair bit of chicken! First we get a letter from a " well known talent show" asking us to come along for an audition then we get a last minute shout for us to play at "Skippy's" leaving "do" at the Partridge our local venue where Skippy as he is best known is something of a local legend! Skippy is heading back off to Australia after shall we say an eventful spell over here although he says he's coming back in June (probably when Aus has had enough of him!!!! lol!). Saturday was a lively night to say the least and it was good to be back at the place where we made our live debut.Rog and Julie have really made their mark and hopefully it won't be too long til the next time

We debut at the Peahen in St Albans on 26th November with an unplugged midweek set and then folllow that up with a return to our second home Mangans on the 5th December where apart from the usual favourites we hope to unveil some new tunes some of which may not be what you'd normally expect to hear from an acoustic duo!

Come along and join us at either the Peahen or Mangans (or both) we'd love to see you

Well here we are again another banging night at the top club on the 11th October. It was Doris and Peter's 50th Wedding Anniversary "do". Once the minor Hiccup with the pa was sorted a cracking night was had by all.
Thanks to Matty as usual for his fabulous renditions of Down in the Tube Station at Midnight and a few other tried and tested oldies including Little Old Wine Drinker Dean Martin eat your heart out!!!!!! The night flew by and no sooner had we started than it was last orders at the bar as Midnight rolled around too quickly the only down side of the whole evening was Mark and I never got a chance to hit the buffet!

Well folks what a night we had at Mangans on Friday. What a crowd and what a great place to play. This really is becoming like a second home and we cant wait until we are back again. Friday was Hannah's off to Uni Bash and if she enjoyed it as much as we did then it must have been a good night, although I must say a big sorry to her and her mum for making them sing along to 500 Miles (sorry we were asked to do it by one of your mates). Anyway have a great time at Uni and we promise we wont make you sing again unless you want to that is. We are playing a Private Party at the Crescent club on Saturday 11th October but have had to cancel our gig at the Partridge on the 1st November as Mark is having an op on his nose (no not cosmetic surgery)and we will be out of commission for a few weeks after that so watch this space as we will be back with a whole new set which we are working hard on at the moment. If you have any ideas for songs you would like to hear us play then let us know and we will see what we can do.
We are also on the look out for new places to play so if anyone is interested in booking us then get in touch and we are sure we will be able to sort something out

Bank Holiday Monday at the Top Club! Wat a blast!!!!!! How does a booking for two 45 minute sets turn into 3 hours in one go and people shouting for more!! The only thing that stopped us playing on were sore fingers Mark's sore throat and the fact that I was running out of strings!!!! If the folks watching enjoyed it as much as we did then a good time was had by all!!!!!! Thanks to everyone who came, sang along, boogied and gave to a good cause!!

We were due to play the Royal Oak on 17th May but sorry folks due to circumstances beyond our control (the pub's closed at present!) we are gig less.

We had a fantastic night on Friday (as usual) at the One Bell on Friday at what we later found out was Eric's last Friday night bash. Would like to wish him well in his new venture and thank him for his support. Hopefully we will be back once the new management are settled in as it is a fantastic place to play. We're hunting round for places to play at the moment so if anyone has any ideas or free dates please let us know.

We are back at the White Bear in Rickmansworth in a couple of weeks time and may just unveil a few surprises in our set so watch this space

Well we're keepin busy and must be doing something right as we are getting some good reviews on lemonrock. com as can be seen....

"Melody with Malody The White Hart, Hemel Hempstead on Sun 2nd Mar 08

Well... It was also my debut at the White Hart and watching Malody. As I stepped into the cosy, intimate White Hart I could hear the acoustic sounds of Malody. I pulled up a stool table and watched the boys entertain the crowd with numerous popular jams. The gig had life, passion and energy. Clearly these guys had done this before and were well rehearsed due to the variety and performance of songs played. They made sure they catered for all the listeners and provided a wide array of classics and current hits. All in all it was a great night totally enjoyed by all.

James, Tue 4th Mar 08"

and from the same gig...

"Good night's entertainment The White Hart, Hemel Hempstead on Sun 2nd Mar 08

Second time out to see Malody having first seen them in Watford. Consistently good quality musicianship. Mark's vocals are a wonder, well supported by Alan who creates an easy going flow and professionalism with effortless guitar links and intros. Both evidently enjoying themselves which is reflected in the relaxation of the audience. Great renditions of Jam's "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight" and Oasis's "Wonderwall" that got the White Hart jumpin'. A real 'must see'."

Looking to branch out and find new places to play and hit the White Bear in Rickmansworth and the Dog and Partridge in Kings Langley in the next couple of weeks before heading back to the One Bell

Jan 31 2008 10:00 PM

We have been a bit busy over the last couple of months and have even found our gig at the One Bell in Watford reviewed by Paul on lemonrock.com who said

"The One Bell, Watford on Fri 18th Jan 08

A must see band in 2008

A truly amazing performance, nothing to fault - got the crowd in the mood and loved audience participation. The vocalist was amazing, managing to change his voice to each song, the guitar player was excellent and sang a little - he should sing more as he also has a great voice. Played various artists, some even sounding better than the original. The Proclaimers' "500 miles" went down a storm as did Oasis's "Champagne Supernova"

If you're in need of a great night out, Malody's next gig is the place to be"

As you can see from our gig guide we are out and about a bit over the next few weeks and are making our debut at a few new venues in the Watford area as well as returning to the Partridge and the One Bell.

Hemel Hempstead and Kings Langley HERE WE COME!!

Oh yeah, Paul, if you're at the One Bell on the 7th come and say hello
