GeneralReading, writing, computer games, films, theatre, music, singing (badly) and never growing old inside, no matter how decrepit I look on the outside!
MusicOutcast, Kanye West, David Bowie, Rob Thomas, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Faithless, Craig David, Aretha, Angie Stone, Amy Winehouse, Mika, Gladys Knight, Nickleback, Bob Marley, Joe, Fall Out Boy, Lupe Fiasco, Jill Scott, REM, The Beat, Luther, Van Morrison, Anita Baker, Dennis Taylor, Alicia Keys, Mozart, Keane, Motown, The Specials and Stereophonics to mention a very, very few.

MoviesA Matter of Life and Death, Galaxy Quest (a very funny film!), It's A Wonderful Life, Clerks 2, Dogma, Babette's Feast, Terminator, Crash, Shrek, The Matrix, Le Cage Aux Folles, The Incredibles, Romuald et Juliette (Daniel Auteuil doesn't do much wrong in my eyes), Kill Bill, American History X (Chilling...), The Witches (- because Angelica Houston was amazing but the end of that film was a big let down), Babe, Aliens, Psycho, Jason and the Argonauts, Hidden, Jean de Florette, Manon de Source, Leon, Momento, The Sixth Sense (even though I guessed the twist), The Seventh Seal, Forbidden Planet, 10 Things I Hate About You, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, House of Flying Daggers, A Chinese Ghost Story, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Tremors, Oldboy, Angel Heart, The Green Mile, School of Rock, The Shawshank Redemption and loads, loads, loads more.
TelevisionDexter, CSI, Frasier, Buffy, Angel, South Park, flicking through MTV channels(!), Dr Who, Waking The Dead, Cold Case, Prime Suspect, Midsomer Murders, The Simpsons and all good, thought provoking dramas such as West Wing and 24 Hours. So called 'Reality TV' doesn't do much for me at all.
BooksAnything by Walter Mosley, Maya Angelou and Garth Ennis. Holes by Louis Sacher, Clockwork by Philip Pullman, Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian, anything by Jane Austen, Paradise Lost by Milton, Jane Eyre, The Andrew Lang Fairy story books (all colours!), I, Claudius by Robert Graves, Shakespeare's plays and poems, Lonesome dove by Larry McMurtry, The Woman In White by Wilkie Collins, The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey, anything by Robert Cormier, Zadie Smith, Asimov, Sci-Fi anthologies, graphic novels particularly those by Alan Moore, the Sleeper series by Ed Brubaker and of course Frank Miller's Sin City (Book 7, Hell and Back and my personal favourite), the Hellblazer graphic novel series (although some are a lot better than others - the Garth Ennis ones are outstanding) and on and on and on...
HeroesMy mum, my sister, Nelson Mandela, Muhammad Ali, Gandhi, Martin Luther King. And anyone who dares to be different and to speak out when they see an injustice.

Double Cross

Double Cross - the book trailer on play.com

DOUBLE CROSS IS OUT NOW! It's the fourth in the Noughts and Crosses series and I'm really excited about it! This book is more like Noughts and Crosses than Knife Edge or Checkmate in tone and feel, but that's just my opinion. And for all those of you who asked what happened to Callie Rose and Sephy after Checkmate, your questions will all be answered in this book - I promise!

If you want to see me chatting about the play NOUGHTS AND CROSSES on the RSC site, here's the link. Once you're on the RSC site, just click on the play button on the N&C photograph or click on the link which says 'Video Interview with Malorie Blackman' on the right hand side of the RSC page.

My book, THE STUFF OF NIGHTMARES is now out in paperback.

If you'd like to see me chat about my book The Stuff of Nightmares please click on the following link.

WARNING! At certain points in the video, it does actually look like my eyes are about to pop right out of my head, but that's in keeping with the theme of the book I guess. Enjoy!

A big hello to all those who read my website pages, my blogs and all my other witterings. Request time. If you send me an email via Myspace, I will always try to reply (time permitting!), but PLEASE invite me to be your friend if you want a reply. It's very frustrating when I'm sent an email and asked to reply and I can't because I have to be the sender's friend to do so and I haven't been invited or added. So to all those who've sent me an email and haven't had a reply yet - now you know why!

My name is Malorie Blackman and when I'm not playing computer games, reading or watching films, I write books. I've written over fifty. (Which sounds like boasting, but it's not - it's just a fact!).

You can find out much more about my books, about me and why I became a writer on my official ‘other’ website - the link is given below. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have (within reason!), but please check my other website first in case I’ve already answered your question there.

Hi Malorie,
I was in a bookstore yesterday looking for no book in particular and as I was scanning the shelves I noticed a book by you...as I took Double Cross off the self and realised it was a continuation of the Noughts and Crosses Series I was so excited because I didn't know that there was going to be another one. So anyway, I went over to my mum and basically squealed my excitement, bought it and promptly went home and started reading it...till 3 in the morning. I am nearly finished and I just want to thank you for writing another amazing book...I wish there were more authors like you *sigh*

Hey Malorie,

I'm so sorry I haven't given my appreciation and praise to you before now, but I would like to say how much I adore your Noughts and Crosses trilogy. They are, by far, the best books I have ever read. They really had an effect on me, you know? The whole story has really stayed with me over time. I have never been so touched and completely involved in a book(s). I really connected with the characters and developed feelings for them. As lame as that sounds. But the whole trilogy was just so powerful. I cried after the first book, like I literally sobbed my heart out. I have NEVER been so deeply affected by a book as that one. And I really loved your Jude character, strangely. I just thought he was deeply misunderstood. Anyways, i'll shut up now. I just wanted to tell you that. Oh and I REALLY feel there should be a film adaptation for the books. To see it on screen would be absolutely mind-blowing. And I voted for your book/video on Play. com. Anyways, hope you're okay and continue using your talent! Write and write and write. :)

just popped to say i loved the video.. slightly different to how i imagined the characters but i thought it summed up the tone of the book very well. And i voted obviously!
You're still my favourite author. I loved the twilight series by stephanie mayer but you still topped that!
keep writing
