One of the leading DJs on the Canadian prairies, Mama Cutsworth is no stranger to making folks flip on the old school funk, soul, hip hop, reggae, latin and disco.
She has shared the stage with DJ Day, DJ Huggs, MEN (JD and Jo of Le Tigre), Venetian Snares, DJ Champion, Kinnie Starr and more. There’s no place she can’t, or won’t, throw a dance party: warehouses, roller rinks, concert halls and art galleries are all fair game.
In 2006, Cutsworth became the first and only female competitor in the annual DJ battle, Clash of the Titans. She took home the first place title, winning over the crowd with both a dance routine AND a ninja. More recently, she played at Decibelle - the women's music festival in Chicago - and flew half way across Canada to play the International Women’s Film Festival in St. John's, Newfoundland.
She also hosts Stylus Radio, a weekly program on CKUW 95.9 FM that's been giving the people what they want for almost 8 years. Check it out on-line or on-air, every Thursday 14:00-15:00 CST.
With the dusty funk staying permanently in her record crates, you can bet your neighbour's kid that by the end of the night you'll be freaking out to the hot horn sections, wicked basslines and slammin' percussion.

When she's not spinning, she works as a vocalist under the name Sarah Michaelson.
Most recently, she performed in concert with hip hop producer/rapper mcenroe. She's also done a healthy dose of live performances and recordings with the folks at Balanced Records, a Winnipeg-based electronic label. Her music and voice has been remixed over the years by the likes of Billy Rockwell, The Seed Organization, Kasm, Vancouver's Gavin Froome and MOD X of France. In 2008, she sang in Cannes, France, performing at the 2008 MIDEM with down-tempo/house producer Solidaze.
