Mamadou Sarr: Musician - Djembe, Sabar, Djun Djun, Tama, Calabash, Congas. Currently based in London, UK, Mamadou Sarr is a performer, composer, arranger, teacher and workshop facilitator.
Mamadou Sarr is an outstanding performer. He has recently been touring in the UK and Europe with the 'Still Black Still Proud' African Tribute to James Brown alongside Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley, Cheikh Lo, Tony Allen, Angelique Kidjo, Simphiwe Dana, Vieux Farka Toure and Ty, among many others.
Mamadou will also be on tour with Nuru Kane and the Bayefall Gnawa (www.myspace.com/nurukane) and the Steve Reid Ensemble throughout 2008 and can be seen performing across the UK and beyond.
Mamadou performs with the 7-piece Senegalese group "Lolou" (www.myspace.com/loloumusic). Lolou's musicians have independently been performing on the international music scene for many years, touring with Senegalese superstars such as Cheikh Lo, Baaba Maal, Youssou Ndour, Doudou Ndiaye Rose, Thione Seck, Omar Pene and Daby Balde. Now the team are all based in London and have formed their own dynamic new group and the result is Lolou! The band are currently recording their first album.
Mamadou is also a guest performer with the eclectic group "Zeep" (www.myspace.com/zeepband). Zeep's album featuring Mamadou is available now!
Fianlly, in addition to performing, Mamadou does an enormous amount of teaching in both the formal and informal education sectors and for corporate organisations such as Drum Cafe.

WorldFest 09 celebrates diversity in the Tees Valley and showcases world class talent. Later that same night the Beta Simon Band will play in the Town Hall Crypt – Beta Simon (star of African and French reggae) and his band played at WorldFest 08 and were a huge hit with the crowd – they got the night off to a dancing start.
