MJ Harrold—Lead Singer And Keys:
MJ grew up In a Very Musical Family Playing many instruments including piano and organ and singing a variety of music. She attended college on a performance scholarship. She Lived in Mississippi and Texas before moving to Colorado. While living in the south MJ was seriously bitten by the blues bug. Throughout her travels she heard some of the best blues, jazz, and Zydeco of the delta. MJ continues to Belt Out those" Down Home Blues". Prior to Starting Mama Raven, MJ was the lead singer for several other Denver blues bands including “Serious Business”, “Common Nation”, “MJ and the Upsetters”, and Catfish and the Crawlers. She has also performed in several gospel and jazz groups.
Bill Garcia - Drums and Vocals
In 1969 Bill’s dad bought him his first set of drums and then in 1971 Bill played his first gig. Since then Bill has played many different styles of music including Rock and Roll, Classic Rock, Country, Spanish, Funk, R & B, Jazz, and Blues. Some of his influences and heroes include Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, Sam Carr, Bernard Perdie, Steve Gadd and Phil Collins. He studied with Harry Wilkinson, (former drummer for Michael Martin Murphy and Larry Coryell). Bill has played with numerous blues bands including 5’clock shadow, Riffraff, Ace Butler and Catfish and the Crawlers, Just to mention a few.
Larry Warner—- Lead Guitar and Vocals
Larry’s love of Blues began at age 15. thousands of gigs later, Things haven't changed. He’s Still Hooked on the Blues. One of his best memories Is warming up for “Buddy Guy” and “Junior Wells” playing in blues band with Dan Treanor--right here in Denver On Broadway at a bar called Straight Johnson’s. He’s Played Many different genres but keeps coming back to the blues. As Larry stated, “The first time I jammed with Clarence, Bill and MJ, it just clicked! Now With “the Mama Raven Band”! I know I’ve found my
musical home.
Clarence Johnsen—- Bass Guitar and Vocals
Clarence was raised on rock and roll and brings a long history of guitar and bass playing to the group. He Has Played With a Variety of Bands throughout the Denver Area. As Quoted by Honey Sepeda in the November 8, 2007 Blues News of the Boulder Outlook “Clarence johnsen elects to cover some Robert Johnsen with a voice bigger than he is. He Johnsen takes a song to the deep places, evoking long misplaced memories of the past gigs and Loves.
