Originally formed in 2003 by New York based songwriter, composer, and producer Josh Wald and Brooklyn based lyricist Camille Gaston, Mama’s Boy Goes Digital began writing and recording hip hop and R&B songs as were many other artists at that time. They soon found themselves experimenting with new sounds that broke through typical sound genres. MBGD explored the realm where these genres overlapped and eventually surprised listeners with a new sound both inimitable, beautiful, and body moving. By incorporating live strings, horns, or other unique sounds with synthesizers and hot beats, the two were able to develop Mama’s Boy Goes Digital into the sound it is today.
The two eventually began partnering with solo artists and vocalists The Empress, Kerry Beach, and Rachel Platten, whose individual voices stand apart from one another yet wholly compliment the songs to which they contributed. Eventually, producer and maestro Josh Wald, brought Gaston, Beach, and Empress together and encouraged them to continue on their own while he remains behind the scenes and continues to write music with and for other artists.
As 2007 comes to an end Mama’s Boy Goes Digital is proud to announce the release of their first album, Of Hearts.
