Mambo Jambo play festivals, arts centres, acoustic / roots / folk clubs and private functions nationally & internationally. In 2008 they played Shetland Folk Festival, Musicport World Music Festival, Sidmouth Folk Week, Bridlington Arts Festival, the Epsom Derby & St. Leger, Broadstairs Folk Festival, Beverley Folk Festival, and plenty of acoustic clubs. In previous years they've appeared in France, Norway, Holland, Borneo (Malaysia), Denmark, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. Musical study trips have taken them to Havana, Cuba and Salvador in Brazil.
The duo play a mix of original material and World & Roots, specialising in Cuban and Brazilian, influenced by the rhythms of Africa, the Caribbean, plus Bluegrass and Eastern Europe.
These musical explorers and multi-instrumentalists use a wide array of instruments to create their joyous, rhythmic sound; with guitar, tres (traditional Cuban guitar) banjo, percussion, suitcase(!), sax, clarinet, flute, cavaquinho (Brazilian ukulele), occasional accordion, and harmony vocals! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *A UNIQUELY VERSATILE ACT WITH WIDE-RANGING POPULAR APPEAL * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *WEBSITE = www.mambojambo.org
