...I kept pictures like this secret for 15 years because I wanted to be respected by my peers as I built my business.
...Now, as the owner of multiple music business's, I have heard from one too many indier than thou artist that because I take the time to give an honest critique that "Your corporate man."
...Maybe, but I also manage 3 artists that tour internationally and I co-own the largest music conference in the country that caters to unsigned artists, over 300 a year to be exact.
...But to know someone, you not only have to know where they are going, but where they have been.
...I fought the same battles todays up and coming artist are fighting from 1984 to 1991 and I wish there had been an asshole like me to tell me my hit songs like
"I Got Crabs But I Ain't Been Fishin" and "Highway 69"
were not going to lead to the holy grail, that I needed to network more, party less and learn to write better songs, but I was surrounded by
...20 friends who told me how good I was. I eventually figured it out the hard way and today, I pay for events like Atlantis Music Conference & Festival so artists who want the knowledge have access to it.
...And for further entertainment besides the photos I post, subscribe to my blogs, there is a lot of good info there, it's your choice to view them as positive or negative and check out the bands I manage in my music player.
