My space is not about me but about the manatees of Homosassa Springs. Manatees are gentle giants, first cousins to the elephant. They are very intelligent, loving, and social mammals. One of their preferred homes, in the winter, is Halls River which starts at the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico then meanders approximately seven miles to Homosassa Springs. Homosassa Springs is one of the largest sources of fresh water bubbling out twenty million gallons of pure water from Mother Earth each and every day. But more importantly, the springs are essential to the survival of the manatee. The springs maintain a seventy-two-degree temperature which keeps the manatees from becoming hypothermic during our winter nights. It also maintains many of the plants essential to the manatees diet. My first experience swimming with the manatees was seven years ago, while fighting for my life from Hodgkins Lymphoma. All though I have survived, my giant friends are not. They are being rammed, cut, sliced, and killed everyday by careless boaters. Starved out with the needless, "grooming of the river," the spraying of poison to stop the growth of many of the plants necessary for the life of the manatee and their offspring. With only a few thousand left on this earth, we need to first learn about our great friends needs, then take action to stop their needless, starvation, maiming and slaughter.

Hey Gail, Jennifer and I have been thinking a lot about you!! Hope all is going well with the new house, Katie told me you and Sam have been very busy. Well, I am now starting my senior year in school and have been thinking a lot about job opportunities. More importantly about our conversation we had about your brother and what he did and I am really wanting to find out some more information if that is possible. Hope to hear from you soon and can't wait to see you in December!!
Hey momma, just wanted you to know that I miss you. I think I might have found a plan for the moving. If you come with me to set up, then I will drive you back, pick up Jay and Zack and we will drive back together. You can leave your car here, and we will ride to wherever I might be going. I love you
