From 1992 to 1997 Manda Clair was in the East Coast group "Amanda's Dirty Secret" based out of Northampton, Massachusetts. The band recorded two albums -- "Pluto" on PlayHard records, and "Pony Rides and Parties" on SkyRocket, including the 7" Single "Ravenous" released to radio in 1995.
In 1998 Manda Clair released "The Girl with the Mis-Shapen Heart", on WatchDog, an eclectic, theatrical concept album reminiscent of "Frank's Wild Years" by Tom Waits.
In 2001 Manda Clair recorded her second solo album, originally titled "Tell Ma I'm Comin' Home", but upon relocating to Texas was later changed to "Preaching to the Choir". It is an alt.country album that appeals to fans of Prine, Townes, Lucinda, and Earle. The record is still unreleased, but many of the tracks can be heard at music.download.com
Manda Clair is currently working on a new album entitled "My Own Private Alamo", and will release it simultaneously with a compilation CD containing select tracks from her prior work.
Manda Clair plays piano, old organs, concertina, accordions, and fingerpicked acoustic guitar in the style of Mississippi John Hurt.
manda, I have "sittin' on the trestle" loaded on repeat and a bottle of Hennessey (I know it's not Jack Daniels or Jim Bean, like the old days, I'm doing better with myself) ... slow moving rivers and fast moving trains.... I'm needin' to burn some kindlin'. Where is Luckenbach? I think someone stole the sign.
