Hi I am Eric Mandala. My Group is an international ethnic fusion world music group with people from around the world. It uses traditional influences of music and Art to create new and dynamic original material. Mandala has been traveling around the world and has more members than we can count. Its focus is to bring sacred styles of art together for a new fusion in this new multi-cultural world. Mandala travels around the world meeting with native artists from each country they come in contact with. Mandala is a wave of the future. As the world becomes smaller and smaller and multiculturalism becomes more and more the norm. Mandala arises to bring together those people from all orgins to see that they all have something in common. Mandala brings back ethnic forms of art and instrument with a new freshness making people apprieciate them again. Mandala has Produced and Recorded 8 Albums in Japan ,Taiwan, India, Africa, Canada and Indonesia.
Erics Wife is Rie Mandala: Rie and Eric met at Rie’s exhibition "Bridge" in 2001 at Borneo Art Studio in Bali. They quickly became partners and since then have made many multi-media exhibitions and performances. They collaborated for the first time at gallery Sembilan in Bali in the exhibition"Sound" in 2002 by creating speaking musical installations, printings and performance. Then in Taiwan 2002 at Evergreen they worked together again in "Shade" by creating masks and doing dance, painting, printing, and creating a new writing system to write all languages. In 2003 they brought other artists into their team and mixed with Shie Mu Fan in "Chaya" at San Yi to build an installation that could be lived in, in the mountains. They had theatre , fire, printing, painting, masks, and spirit entered from nature itself. In 2004 they toured Indonesia with the exhibition "Sen" doing live painting with with a jazz gamelan ethnic fusion performance. In 2005 They toured Japan and Indonesia mixing in live loops with the music making it possible to play all of the instruments themselves. In 2006 They toured 10 countries with "Nomadic Journey World Tour" Asia, Africa, Europe and North America... In 2007 they settled in Kyoto Japan working organizing many festivals and events. "UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE FESTIVAL" TRIBAL REVIVAL FESTIVAL" "MOON CIRCLE PEACE GATHERING" "LIVE LIFE" "THE JAM SOCIETY" "ERIC MANDALA & THE TRIBE" Now in 2008 they are opening a recording label studio in Kyoto Japan...
