Reviews
Parkway Drive review @ Eaton Community College

Mandalay Victory, another favourite on the Perth hardcore scene were there to keep the crowd going, with front man, Dane Warren demanding more stage dives and circle pits from the all ages crowd who were happy to oblige.

X-Press Magazine Review

There are two key factors that determine what makes a good metal-core record, those being originality and execution. Whilst Mandalay Victory do not tick the originality box (but honestly, who can be original in metal-core anymore anyway?), they well and truly make up for it in the execution department.

Last time I checked, Mandalay Victory were another Perth metal-core band who were making ripples. That’s not to take anything away from the band, but they have been at their craft for quite some time, and really haven’t got a whole lot to show for it. This is why Tales Over Time is such a monumental accomplishment for a local band who have taken a gigantic step towards national recognition.

Independently funded and released, Tales Over Time is a solid statement from an outfit who are ready to take things to the next level. They have grabbed the bull by the horns, shipped themselves off to Adelaide, and returned home with a record that achieves international standards. The production is absolutely top notch, and the musicianship shown rivals some of the nations’ best.

Had this record have been released by an American band, you can bet your bottom dollar that thousands of Australian kids would be flocking to their shows, because it is just as good, if not better, than many efforts that come from the USA.

Faster Louder Reviews

Fresh from recording their debut full length in South Australia, Perth’s Mandalay Victory proved to the now packed-out Amplifier that they are ready to take their dynamic sound to the rest of the nation. With bands such as Parkway Drive and Confession winning over mass audiences around the country, it is highly possible that Mandalay could tap into this ever growing metal market. Aiding their sound (a mix of vicious screams and growls that morph into catchy choruses that hook in the listener) is the world-class stage presence of this five piece, bouncing up and down in unison, constantly moving and getting the crowd heavily involved. Front-man Dane Warren felt the Amplifier stage was nowhere near large enough for him and jumped into the crowd. As P.A.R.T.Y suggests, these guys are here to insight chaos and the audience were more than happy to get involved.
