MANDATORY was founded in summer '01 by Sascha Beselt (guitars/bass/keys) and Stinne (drums/vox) for the love of raw and straightforward Death Metal in the vein of the early 90's.
Right before the recording sessions to the first MCD "Divine Destruction" (2002) the second guitarist and bass player decided to leave the band so that MANDATORY had been acting as a duo since back then supported live by session players. "Divine Destruction" brought strong reviews in mags and webzines all over the planet.
It was this line-up which also recorded the latest MCD "Curse Of The Undead" (2005) as well as the brandnew "...Where They Bleed" in 2006/07. Both MCDs brought great reviews and feedback worldwide and let to a collaboration with the Australian underground Death Metal label ASPHYXIATE RECORDINGS.
January 2008 will see the release of the whole partially sold out back-catalog plus 4 additonal previously unreleased tracks as well as 2 cover songs on the "Exiled In Pain"-anthology - 20 tracks in total!! Stay tuned for that release!
A full length release is scheduled for April 2008 entitled "Adrift Beyond". Don't pass this one up!
Freshly reinforced with a new bassist and a second guitarist MANDATORY is currently preparing for future live invasions later this year.

Denn auch wenn sich die Euskirchener diesem typisch dreckigen Death Metal verschrieben haben, bleiben sie doch Mandatory und haben ihre ganz eigene Note. Der vierte Song auf dieser Scheibe „Obscure Mortification“ wird durch einprägende Leads eingeleitet, bevor die Jungs wieder rasant zur Sache kommen. Was mir bei Mandatory gut gefällt, ist die Tatsache, dass sie sich um Abwechslungsreichtum bemühen und es auch tatsächlich schaffen, nicht langweilig zu werden.
