   About Mandibles
Guelph, Ont's Mandibles deliver energetic and off-kilter indie rock in this concise, but musically packed debut. Fronted by Jordan Howard (The Owle Bird, The Magic, Burrows, Miss Scarlett, Nathan Coles), Mandibles mixes violin, accordion and jazz-influenced drumming into their foot-stomping, danceable tunes. Complex yet accessible songs like "Mark Of Stone" have seemingly innocuous intros that eventually build to crashing, transcendent climaxes that are almost reminiscent of Arcade Fire, but with a more raw, loopy delivery. Others, like "Mood Alarm" crash right through the starting gates and don't let up. Staccato vocals, crunchy guitars and syncopated rhythms provide the fuel for Mandibles' rock 'n' roll engine. It feels like it's over before it begins and you'll be compelled to go back for another wild ride. -Shannon Whibbs ChartAttack

That was a great set at The Rivoli. Melodic and dynamic indie-rock that melds shades of country and folk, finely-crafted songs that's insanely catchy, a homegrown violin-meets-washboard feel, a dizzying foot-stomping carnival ride that boasts of fearless energy and celebration, bringing the Western frontier--via Guelph--to the Toronto heartland.

I have yet to get a copy of the of the disc. I do have a lot of free time, so if you've got nothing to do we could set up a secret location to meet at and exchange? When I say exchange I mean my money for your cd because we don't have an actual cd which would make the trade very unfair. Although, I will gladly burn you a copy if you would like.

Great review of Anther in this issue of Eye Magazine 'Guelph's indie subset are a flaying mass of incisive force, seemingly inspired by the likes of fellow hillside performers The Acorn, Hayden, and Born Ruffians to inject a country twang into their otherwise muted palette'

That was a great set at The Silver Dollar, an edgy foot-stomping rock revival, infused with elements of country and folk. Mandibles has it's contemplative moments, beautiful, yet can also can step-it-up to a euphoric gospel-like epiphany. No accordion this time, yet complete with a washboard and cymbals-a-crashing, Mandibles is the irresistible antidote to urban musical complacency.

Jordan,
I am volunteering with the production crew for the jazz festival on saturday and will more than likely be helping out during the burrows set. If you could bring a copy of the mandibles disc for me that would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

We'll have to discuss this secret location sometime soon.
As far as the show situation goes, we have been trying to get some but haven't had much luck yet. It is somewhat our own fault though because we have been rather picky with trying to avoid the shadow as much as we can. We'll be sure to let you and everyone know when the day comes.

dear jordan and his mandibles,
Incredible performances over the weekend, especially in the workshops. Somehow in my drunken state I forgot to pick up a copy of the cd.
Will it be at daydream or anywhere soon?
