I go to school at Berklee College of Music, studying mandolin. I’ve played with some pretty cool people in the past. Some bands I have played in: Jaded Mandolin, Talaria, Defenestrated, Jess Yoakum Band, Patty Keough and the Boys, Ari & Mia Friedman, Thor’s Rhapsody and some others. I’ve shared the stage with some great musicians like Mark Simos, Joy Kills Sorrow, Tristan and Tashina Clarridge, Tracy Grammer and Jim Henry, Chris & Lorin Rowan, The Resophonics, Brian Webb, Bill Staines, David Coffin, David Surrette, Barbara Kessler and many more. I’m playing in a few groups right now including Matching Orange (traditional folk group...we play contra dances), Allura (heavy RAWK! We need guitar and bass players) and Orion Longsword (I play while they dance). I’m always looking for more chances to play!! Don’t hesitate to ask!
Oh yes, I definitely agree about stunning people into submission. I've got a couple of "off-the-wall" tune set ideas. You should definitely cook up some as well, whether Celtic, English ("North Shirley Volunteers" on mando and zouk?), old-timey or whatever. And if you wanna get some other fretted-string folks in on this, no objection here...
My right hand is SOOOOO much better it's crazy. It hasn't felt this good in ten years. Now I'll the left one done sometime this summer and I'll be all set.
HOW ARE YOU!!! HOW IS BERKLEE??
You guys just had a show last night at the nameless right? I wanted to get there but i'm in NH right now.
Hmmm, "Aeie." Well, it does sound kinda pseudo-Celtic/Middle Earth. Hopefully, though, it wouldn't be the sound people make when they hear us play... No, no bad thoughts! Shiny _happy_ vibes.
Yes, absolutely! Sixteen strings, two plectrums, a whole buncha frets, and lots of attitude! Plus, our first names both have exactly four letters. And two vowels apiece.
hell ya! how's school and everything going? you must be crazy busy. i'd love to sit down and play some tunes with ya and hear what you've been learning... hope all's well.
Hi Mandolinenator, thank you for having me as one of your many friends. The music here is beautiful & it will be a pleasure to return for many listens. take care for now Ruth x
