Mandorico
is a seven-piece, LA-based powerhouse of punky reggae, hip-hop, rock, latin and funk. Their late 2006/2007 hiatus and subsequent reformation in SoCal has yielded the most intense version of the band to date. With a new line-up, an untoured record and new purpose Mandorico is setting out in '08 to remind the public what it means to be at the top of your game.
For almost a decade now Mandorico have toured the U.S. Their
music has reached even farther garnering radio and club spins in South
America, Europe and Mexico. With thousands of live shows under their collective
belts these guys have honed one of the best and most praised live concerts in their touring
region. Here's what a few had to say...
Mandorico takes rock, reggae, Latin and punk music, smashes them all
together, and throws the flaming ball of fire right into the audience. -
Herald-Journal, Spartanburg
... a first-class party band whose live shows are so conducive to
booty-shaking that only the dead would refrain from getting up to dance - Mountain
Xpress, Asheville
One of Atlantas most popular bands ... a fantastic, all-devouring,
remorseless percussive monster - Creative Loafing, Atlanta
Just about any musical style that originated south of the
border-including the Caribbean-was fair game for [Mandorico]. A sort of barely controlled
chaos reigned over the club, with horns, guitar, and rhythm all doing their own thing at
very high speed throughout the set. The singer/percussionist literally
threw himself into the act, doing somersaults and backflips off his drums and jumping all
over the stage without missing a beat on the microphone. When they started pounding in
earnest, the stage started to look like it was in the middle of an earthquake! - The
Technique, GA Tech
They have participated in almost every major musical event that the east
coast has to offer and shared the stage with various national and international acts
including the late Tito Puente, The Wailers, Celia Cruz, Smashmouth, UB40, Foo-Fighters,
Toots and the Maytals and countless others. In addition, Mandorico has made a number of
major network television appearances as well as having their music showcased on MTVs Real
World and Road Rules and The Today Show with Katie Couric.
Mandoricos wall of sound is made up of horns, percussion, loud guitars
and multiple vocals smashing together urban rock, reggae, latin and punk yielding an
incomparable musical monster. The band has paved its own sonic path and continues to recruit
an ever-increasing number of fans as their songs travel outside the U.S. resounding in
dancehalls and radio waves from North to South America and well into Europe. If youve yet
to see these boys throw down live you are missing a performance against which all others
will soon be compared.
