My name is Ash Mandrake. I make hats and I'm a musician.

This site is about my hats. There's an exhibition on the right showing some of the ones I've made. I do offer a bespoke hat making service. I make them to measure and sometimes design them with the person whose going to wear them.

As soon as I can pull myself out of this wave of creativity, I'll get some hats up on ebay. If there's anybody who's been waiting to se what I put up, and feels disappointed because there's still nothing there, drop me a mail, and we'll have a chat about it.

There is no featured hat for this week, so I'm leaving last week's up. Basically, I worked my old sewing machine so hard that it discintegrated. I got a new one yesterday (it works like a dream) and I can't keep my hands off it. Instead of making stuff to sell on ebay, I'm creating new designs, for a couple of days.

LAST WEEK'S FEATURED HAT
The Captain's Rat's Tail Hat

Unlike the hats featured in the previous two weeks (see the blogs), this design of this hat was a collaberative effort. It was comissioned by Andy Manners (The Captain) in exchange for his services as a luthier in my 10 string guitar project (see http://www.myspace.com/ashmandrake16). Some ideas were Andy's, some were mine. This hat was made later than many of the other hats featured on the right, and so the workmanship is better.

As with many of my hats, within the top of this one, there resides a secret pocket, bearing the Mandrake logo

The videos below both feature the Capitain's Rat's tail Cap and are of the two songs "Rolling Down hill To The Bright Summer Sun"and "Strange Stars" . Both are performed by my band, The Mandrake Project.
