Mandy Beaumont is Brisbane based and has been published widely in books, journals and newspapers and has published lots of zines. Her first book was "The Regular Correspondence of a Love Affair With Words" (launched to rave reviews at the 2004 Queensland Poetry Festival.) In 2005 she launched her 2nd book to the one who comes at dawn again at the Queensland Poetry Festival (written with Graham Nunn).In 2006 Mandy released her third book "APERTURE". Her poetry has been described as 'gritty and beautiful', 'romantic and beat inspired', and 'often on the edge'. Mandy was the first poet to be awarded a mentorship as part of the Arts Queensland Youth Arts Mentoring Program, was the first poet selected for the Australia Councils "Write in your Face" program as part
of Vibewire and was shortlisted for the NSW Writers Centre/Wild and Wooley 2005 Best Australian Poetry Book. In 2006 she recieved Highly Commended for her poem "War Poem" in the VAL VALLIS AWARD FOR POETRY. She performs her work all around Australia and manages, and is the editor for, numerous festivals, events, books and projects. More notibly Mandy manages the Poetry After Dark Extravaganza at the ZOO Nightclub in Brisbane, that has featured Chris Bailey (The Saints) Dave Graney and Clare Moore, Burlesque girls, Jimmy Styles and the Easy Company, 8 Ball Aitken, The Red Paintings, Alicia Sometimes, Sean Whelan, Amelia Walker, Brides Of Frank, Dusty Spangles, Zine Fair, DJNOMC, Live Performance Art, Poetry Buckets, Visual Art, Country Hoedown Girls, DJ Wolvie Trash and much much more.
