Residing in downtown Amherst, MA, Mandy served her town and community for several years as a Head Start teacher and labor union leader until choosing to study jazz and African-American music at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2005. After participating in the Jazz In July Summer Music Programs at UMASS in 2006 and 2007, Mandy became the assistant director of the program, serving as the acting-director for the 2008 summer session.
Mandy is currently writing her own music and lyrics for her debut album "Heart-Shaped," performing locally, and collaborating with talented local musicians and DJs. She recently formed Pepper's Hygrade Promotions to promote local music, musicians, and venues through flyering, flyer design, networking, and merchandising.
