Hello! My name is Mandy and I am a Freelance Makeup Artist located in Southern Maryland. I attend The Chesapeake School of Esthetics in 2006. I graduated with a certificate in Makeup Artistry and in Advanced Bridal Makeup. I have been in the makeup industry for about 3 years now. I’m a jack of many trades but my passion is Makeup. I love Makeup for not only what it can do to one's outer appearance, but also the transformation that happens to one's confidence. "How did you get started?"
I started out doing makeup on friends for fun.It soon became my passion and I wanted to take the next step to become a licenced Makeup Artist.
"What school did you go to, did they teach you that?"
I attended Chesapeake School of Esthetics: Skin Care and Makeup Artistry in 2006.
I was taught new skills that helped me discover the best looks for myself and others.It was a great expreience and I would recommend going to anyone.
As far as the creative and colorful work that I do it was not something I learned when I was in school. It's was self taught and actually my fav. kind of makeup to do. Just thing creative.
"How do I get started??"
Look in your area for schools to attend.Then you want to start building a portfolio.If you have to do the makeup on yourself and take a pic by all means do it so you have something to show.
A good way to build your portfolio is to do TFP/TFCD's (Time For Prints/Time For CD).You'll be working for free but you'll get some professional photos to put in your portfolio
"Any tips for a makeup artist just starting out?"
Network!! Do anything and everything to get your name and work out there. Myspace ( as cheesey as it sounds) is great for networking.

I def recommend bussiness cards.Give them to everyone you do makeup for, friends to pass out,post them places ect...
Don't be afraid to be creative. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Theres no mistakes in makeup. it's art. Just look around for your inspiration.
I thought I told you about that. Although I thought it was a Book featuring tattooed women. It's been a minute since I've heard anything about it though, I keep meaning to message him and ask him if he's heard anything new but you know how my memory is lol. Let me know what he tells ya :D
