I grew up with a healthy 80’s appetite of Eurythmics/Annie Lennox, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Talking Heads, Roy Orbison, The Beatles, and much more. In addition to the above, I also enjoy listening to Lior, Sarah McLachlan, Jeff Buckley, Camille, Radiohead, Jen Cloher, Billie Holiday, Jacqueline Amidy, and the list goes on.
I appreciate any music that moves, inspires, or consoles me, and/or offers thought-provoking lyrics. I hope to create music that gives that to me, as well as to others.
Unlike many musicians, I can’t claim to have played guitar since I was a child, or to have written my first song in my teens, and I certainly didn't do a lot of performing when I was growing up. I’ve always had a love for words, and singing was always therapeutic for me, but it was many years before I was able to sing in front of anyone, and I was 21 before I wrote my first song.
At the end of 2008, after over a decade doing the "responsible" thing and working in full-time jobs that made me unhappy, I concluded that it was no longer an option to continue on that path. I needed to write songs. I decided to reduce to part-time work to restore some balance, and to follow my heart.
So with a cheap guitar, a handful of songs that I'd written over the previous 7 years, and a few basic guitar chords, I started writing, and haven't stopped. It kept me sane, and continues to do so. I write songs about all that I feel and all that I observe - all the beauty and the ugliness of the world that we live in, and all the feelings that I'd sometimes rather not confront.
I'm always questioning and seeking to understand - and learning that some questions don't need to be answered, and some things can't be understood.
Please note: the recording/s here are demos. I'm always working towards improving them.
I've recently played at the Rainbow Hotel, Drunken Poet, Ruby's Lounge and Bender Bar, to name a few, and I'm currently available for gigs. Please send me a message if you like what you hear, and you have a venue, or would like to organise a line-up.
If you'd like to join my mailing list, please send me a message.

With over 40 gigs across three libraries every year, Melbourne Libarary Service's Acoustica series offers local (and some not so local) musicians a chance to make some noise in a quite place, and reach a slightly different audience.
Thankyou! Glad you like my music. I have to confess I enjoyed yours also; we write similarily about feelings and what we observe; keeping it real. If I'm going to an open mic night I'll let you know so we can say hooray and play our stuff and have a little vino!! All the very best, Hugs Anni
