ManGenerated as a band ceased to exist around 2004 and it’s very unlikely that there will ever be a reunion or that new material will ever be recorded under that name. From 1996 to 2004 the band changed in formation a couple of times. Founding members were Olivier Decoster (aka and performing under the name Diskoster), Robin Guelinckx (aka DJ Nibor for all ya hardcore and acid parties), Jan Baeten (currently playing with the Cyphoids) and Wim Van Gelder (aka Portable Noise Kremator and still maintaining the mangenerated-site). Yves Lambeens (now playing in The Dead Souls and Zen for Birds) joined in later.
Influences
Not necessarly influences, but sure things we were listening to: Glenn Branca, The Dead C, The Shaggs, John Carpenter, K2, Smell & Quim, Hermit, The Melvins, My Bloody Valentine, Heresey, Flux of Pink Indians... and tons of other bands I've forgotten the names of because of my legendary memory (or lack thereof) for names.
Sounds Like
Crappy impro trash varying with the years and the bandmembers' mood. First couple of years drumatix/steel kit/guitar-induced, later moving more towards a guitar-only band with occasional sloppy drumming. Think 3 authistic and tonedeaf guitarplayers who learned to play their instrument by studying pics in a guitar-catalogue doing their best to blow up their amps. Damage over the years: 4 amps, a 4-track, 3 monitors, 3 guitars, 2 synths, various smaller equipment that easily gets loose when you swing it above your head (like mikes), our reputation in town and Diskosters' ears.
ManGenerated, as a band, was founded in 1996, and ceased to exist somewhere around 2004. It has always been tough to classify ManGenerated. Experimental death-trash impro might be the best genre-description for ManGenerated’s last period, when the band settled with a heavy detuned guitar sound, loosely similar to, though not necessarly inspired by what the Dead C was doing in that period. Things grew slower and sludgier in the very last months as the bands interest shifted to this genre, but then things came to an end. Heck, in those 8 years we never learned to play properly, which might explain a couple of things.
The bands’ name now lives on in www.mangenerated.com, initially a typical bands’ site, but now focusing on noise and experimental music in general, with a blog containing reviews of both gigs and releases, plus a small calendar with upcoming events - To get an idea of what bands we had over us the past years, check out Live in De Living, the notorious fest Diskoster used to organise in his livingroom. Live in De Living currently is no more, but the show continues at various other locations.
I am now
recording for a new set of releases called the "Persona Series". These
cassettes will be commissioned works (not by content, but by payment)
for individuals. If John Smith in London, England wants his own Zebulon
Kosted album, I will make a 45 minute album (one side of a 90 minute
tape), 2 hand drawn mini posters, I will name the album after him
(Zebulon Kosted - John Smith), and the fan will retain all rights to
the recording (for use of any future release, sampling, or broadcasting
rights). One copy of the album will remain in my personal collection,
and one will be sent to the customer, so that the only copy that will
be in circulation will be John Smiths copy! Each album is available for
the ridiculously low price of $10 (not including shipping), and will be
shipped in its completed form no later than 6 weeks from the date of
purchase!!!
OUT NOW on Idiosyncratics Records : Phil Maggi - Blue Fields in Paramount CD
..Blue Fields in Paramount is a very personal and fascinating opus, a beautiful introduction to the style of this talented artist, that could be qualified as 'dark psychedelia for daydream believers'. It has been mastered by James Plotkin (Khlyst, Khanate, Old, Phantom) and is out now as a stricly limited to 300 copies ekopack edition with a fantastic artwork by czech artist Jan Karpisek...
Maxi Bacon is the collaboration of Freeka Peeka (Sgure/Gazormass - Bordeaux, France) and Scott Sinclair (Company Fuck/Botborg - Berlin, Germany). Equally inspired by computer glitch, grindcore, breakcore, cartoon music, and karaoke, Maxi Bacon serve up an electrified meat-punch to the brain with random collages of screaming digital nonsense and mass audio confusion. The basis of their sound comes from using highly customised music software to accompany their extreme and unpredictable vocal improvisations – from metal growls, to karaoke crooning, to uncomfortable vomiting, to microscopic spitting and breathing. Maxi Bacon deliberately carry themselves with a blatant disregard for appropriate musical conduct, instead indulging in brutal noise blasts, confusing musical choices, computer wizardry and vocal stupidity.
In concert, Maxi Bacon are an improvised wireless noise show, diving into the audience for aggressive and childish conversations void of language or intelligence.
Three nerds locked in their dirty bedrooms for too long. tired of not knowin how to play, they tried anyway. They wanted to be in the spice girls but their drummer don’t wash her hair everyweek.
MOYSK (be)
Belgian learning disabilities duo moysk produce some wondrous low brow scum/shit noise, elbow deep in patch cords and cheap beer dixit Chocolate Monk.
Formed in Paris back in 1988 by Jean-Marcel Busson, Frédéric Rebotier, Ravi Sharda Samon Takahashi, the GOL quartet embody a tense, all but lost, post dada rural tradition, balancing between instinct and invention, flabby psycho disco psychedelics and terse tropical experimentalism. Handmade, handheld and hand in glove, expect tapes, turntables, flute, guitar, horns and a heavenly host of marvelously home manufactured mid summer mambo to speed the party home.
PORTRADIUM explore new territories in electronic seduction and intrigue: oscillating between off-kilter Ennio Morricone-style motifs, pop-inflected melodies, digital experimentation and tongue-in-cheek psychedelics.
"Daring ideas abound in the world of electronica, but there's frequently a gulf of disappointment between high-flown concept and drab sonic reality. Thankfully, that's not the case with Transatlantyk, a strikingly recondite project which has given rise to some gratifyingly edgy music. (...) At times - during the keening, bristling wail of "East Side Effect", for example - this modernistic and intriguing score is genuinely gripping." (The Wire)

DUNCAN PINHAS (FRA)
"Son and “legacy” of Richard “Heldon” Pinhas, to whom this music owes a great debt… even though there was no wails of feedback and it was not that fast, I kept thinking about Sonic Youth’s Daydream Nation."
"Freudi is a totally improvised project which always grows and sometime tends to involve also more and more people, anyway the core is a conjuration between Palustre's label heads Michele Mazzani and Aldo Becca, and the Bologna-based nomad Davide aka Sethevoltracks! Ghostly delayed field recordings are spread into the air along with distant feedbacks and sad mournings, and all degenerates into a burned-out and panistic free-noise experience...all hail HellHammer! Screams beyond the line of mental sanity!"
