Influences
All music. We're both classically trained, and that's what MANI has done thus far. We are particularly drawn to composer performers. We listen to and play anything that sounds good to us. And some things that don't.
MaNi was established in 2006 when Emi and Joel played their first duo program together. Since then, we have been curating a more traditional concert series at Greenpoint's oldest church, the Church of the Ascension, in addition to developing less traditional projects. We focus on presenting the work of the emerging generation of composers alongside the work of the venerated names of the past. We will, in short, play anything that attracts us in the hopes that our joy in playing is transmitted to the audience. Our website gets updated more regularly than this mess.
