CALL IT MONSTER-METAL,
CALL IT HORRORCORE
CALL THEM......
MANIMALS
1982 - 1983: Emerging from the Detroit / Toledo hardcore scene of the early 1980's, this unholy three-piece punished punk crowds along side such acts as NEGATIVE APPROACH, The danzig-era MISFITS, GOVERNMENT ISSUE and THE NECROS. This included the band's first vinyl appearance on the classic Mystic Records Hardcore sampler "WE GOT POWER - party or go home!" (1982).
1984 - 1988: For five years, the MANIMALS reigned as the most notorious band on the Cleveland, Ohio Metal scene. Delivering occassional, but legendary live shows, this period saw a number of national acts refusing to allow these punk / metal monsters on the bill. A few notable exceptions were shows with SAMHAIN and NUCLEAR ASSAULT. They even found time to scare MEGADETH shitless in a 1986 co-headline show. With little opportunity to play with touring acts, the MANIMALS took a weekend to record a demo which would ultimatley become the classic "Blood is the Harvest" EP (1986). This rare vinyl 12" became a cult collector's item across the USA as well as Europe and South America.
Then, after a brutal January 1988 show, almost as suddenly as they had appeared, they vanished .....not to be seen again for nearly a decade....
1999 - PRESENT: On April 17, 1999 months of rumors were confirmed as LARRY the WOLF, DARK and ORLOCK made their first live appearance in over a decade, unleashing an assault of new horror anthems. In late '99 they released their very first full-length CD: MANIMALS "HORRORCORE". The disc received enthusiastic critical acclaim and is regarded by many as the one of the greatest horror-rock/punk CDs ever released.
