Maybe somewhere between a Cure bass line and Doors keyboard ambiance? Combined with cinematic instrumental moods a la Angelo Badalamenti, electronic drum patterns and some scattered, melancholic vocals?
Man My Machine is not that easy to label, with one foot in the avantgarde listening universe of acts like Air and the other in the more sequenced art pop area / downbeat / disco not disco sound.
Yes, it is very hard to categorize MMM and even their future, as they still havent approached any labels, first wanting to record more songs and tune in on their own distinct expression. - And that is actually the best part, they reckon. No expectations, just creativity and a thirst of wanting to place themselves out of category, striding not to fall into the wave of the endless number bands with the dance/rock feel. This also recently made them redefine themselves and delete four of their finished songs from the computer, simply because it sounded too much like anyone else.
This somewhat mysterious and thorough Danish trio consists of three guys from Copenhagen, with very different musical backgrounds:
Peter Buch on keys and bass, a graduate from The Royal Conservatory of Music, where his main instrument was the bass and deep into the jazz scene in Copenhagen and now works as one of the main guns for hire in many Danish live bands and recording sessions,
Johan Winthereik on vocals and guitars, coming from the new Copenhagen indieband wave, where he is the main force in Virgo, which currently are working on their follow up album,
Kasper Bjrke, a well known dj and producer with several other projects and releases behind him and in the loop (Filur on V2 Records and a solo release on Fine Records) as well as numerous tours in the US, Japan and all over Europe.
Together these three friends are searching for a different musical approach, than what they are used to in their current running projects. They are also developing a visual liveshow to tour with their songs, and hope to be heading out for the first concerts later this year.
