Manolo Badrena born in Santurce Puerto Rico March 1952.Left for United States in1974 where he performed with Weather Report and recorded Heavy Weather,Mr. Gone,1976-77.After he went on to perform,record with,Rolling Stones,George Duke,Herb Alpert, Joni Mitchel,Gino Vanelli, Henry Mancini as well as recording his first solo album as songwriter/vocalist/multinstrumentalist for A& M records 1979 called Manolo.The 80's saw Manolo recording and working with Steve Khan Eyewitness project.Brecker brothers ,Ahmad Jamal ,Nile Rodgers,Blondie,Talking Heads,Miami Steve, also Spyro Gyra writing their 1987 hit Nu Sungo,Michael Franks,Bill Evans.1990's through now recorded,wrote and performed with the Zawinul Syndicate,Sixun [Paris]and got to travel the whole world with Mr. Zawinul performing with Salif Keita,Richard Bona,Maria Joao,Toninho Horta,Paco Sery,Ettiene M'Bape,Zakir Hussein,Victor Bailey,Marcus Miller.Back in the USA he participated on Steve Jordan's productions for John Scofield,John Mayer.At the moment Manolo stoped touring in 2004 to complete his instructional Dvd for Rittor Music"All that Percussion" making it a culmination of worldpercussion studies adquired through extensive travel,nowadays he is very selective so he just recorded Ahmad Jamal's new project and Mina Agossi's project . Manolo also plays guitar,keyboards,vocal,drums,percussion, graphic designs and is ready to unleash this new product soon,stay tuned!!!
I was in Grigoleti,it's a place near Batumi at the Georgian Black sea.The place is surrounded by pain trees and is really the beautiful one.I had a concert there.Now I am back to work. I asked friend of mine,who was going to come to your concert in Toronto,to see you after the concert and say hello on my behalf but unfortunately she got sick and had no chance to see you.
