Overplay's review of "The Trip"
Drowning in Hammond organ and wah wah, Man Over Board embark on a demented psychedelic bus ride with dodgy brakes driven by James Brown. Passionate, loony and brilliant, its the kind of thing boxers and traffic wardens should use to get psyched-up.
Overplays review of "Indian Summer"
Psychedelia. If you get wrong it just sounds rubbish. You only have to listen to anything by Oasis with reversed guitar bits to realise that. Even All You Need Is Love tends to sound more than a little cheesy in this day and age. Fortunately though, Redditch fivesome Man Over Board appreciate that, at the heart of the genre, is something essentially demented. The four tracks on their Indian Summer ep are plenty lively and infinitely interesting because they embrace psychedelias inherent looniness.
If there's one thing people have said about MOB is that its just not like anything that anyone is doing at the moment. The five piece set up of meaty guitar riffs fused with psychedelic/electronic keyboards backed by funky bass and oh so phatt drum beats creates an experimental sound that sits happily in the gaps between indie, dance and rock genres.
The band has developed its unique sound over the last 8 years, not being swayed by the current trend and concentrating on writing songs that are individual and stand out from the last one, indeed after seeing the band live, most people comment on how different each song is.
Gigging regularly at top local venues such as: Bar Academy, Marrs Bar, Jug of Ale, Flapper & Firkin and Birmingham Barfly, MOB continue to invoke positive reactions wherever they play, adding to their rapidly increasing following of friends and fans.
Earlier this year Man Over Board recorded a new studio track "Shake It!". The track is available to listen to here.
Other recordings include The Trip and Indian Summer EP's which were recorded at Hijack Studios in Redditch, and produced by former Dodgy front man Nigel Clark and Sunset Cinema Club guitarist/vocalist Dom. All are available at upcoming gigs, so if you want one - just ask! :)

Many thanks for the add. Hope you enjoy the music and message behind it. My mission in life is to fight Human Trafficking. understanding the individual pain of others is sometimes to painful for an other individual to touch and that is frightening ... what i mean is that someone whose life is not traumatized and brutalized as a regular sequence of every day events unconsciously seeks the camouflage and shelter of apathy and banality from the reality of such devastating anguish and terror ...
but the spirit of young people who are used as sex slaves in the systematized global industry of human trafficking is now reaching out to the human fellowship in hope and desperation and through technology ...
it is scary when humanity turns a blind eye to this horror ... its like ignoring genocide whilst it is happening ...
what i am asking is that if you hear the cry of these young people who are existing in an environment of torture and brutality each and every day that you then please do not turn away from them ...
please reach deeply into your heart and soul and please in 2009 join a movement or become a part of an event that challenges modern slavery in the 21st century ... colin
I have been playing the guitar for nearly 20 years (I started when I was 6) and have played in many different bands ranging from metal to indie and funk, more recently I have been doing solo classical gigs. Whatever style of guitar playing you'd like to learn I can teach it to you.
I teach all ages (I've taught people as young as 6) and I can teach you everything and anything that you want to learn. It doesn't matter if you want to be a rock god playing in a band or if you want to do classical grades. Maybe you just want to learn some acoustic songs to be the center of attention at a party or maybe you want to get in to complexed theory, I can help you achieve your goals.
Lessons are 1 on 1 tuition and your first lesson will be at the BARGIN price of £10. You will not find better value or a better teacher that is a guarentee.
