Influences
Bits and pieces of:
Rob Zombie, L7, The Jesus Lizard, early-to-mid Modest Mouse, Jonathan Fire*eater, Southern Culture on the Skids, Supersuckers, Unsane, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Alkaline Trio, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Ghastly Ones, Juliette and the Licks, Sonic Youth, Led Zeppelin, Danger Doom, The Geraldine Fibbers, MUSE, Martin Denny, Murder City Devils, The Moaners, Ethyl Meatplow, Dick Dale, Hegoat, Morphine, Shellac, Buttfinger, Metallica, Two Ton Boa, Propellerheads, Arthur Lyman, Les Baxter, early Poison, early Motley Crue, Paul Mauriat, Morrissey, Patsy Cline, White Zombie, The Sonics, James Brown, most 1950s - 1970s bachelor pad and/or exotica music, Mustangs, Falcons, and Trans Ams, an aversion and attraction to classical music due to overexposure to it in formative years, Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Carolyn Keene (the Nancy Drew mysteries--pre-1974.)
Sounds Like
Rob Zombie kidnaps Southern Culture on the Skids, stuffs them in a Trans Am or two, has them drink mai tais and listen to L7, Supersuckers, and Martin Denny, and then he takes them to a haunted house ride at a gay beach, where the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Propellerheads run the ride. David Wm. Sims (bassist of The J*sus Lizard) photographs the exploits with a Holga camera, while Negativland makes a field recording of the adventures for posterity.
Or maybe it doesn’t quite sound like that, either.
GREETINGS MANSARD WISHING YOU A HAPPY AND CREATIVE 2008
There are some tunes on your page that are new to me.I particularly like ''December Panic''.If the Thames River burst it's banks this could be the theme tune for surfers in the East End of London!
I have two new tunes:''Gymkhana Firefly'' and ''Something For The Weekend''on my page.Drop by and have a listen.
Ditto to YOU (except substitute LA for DC) :) Love your sound - you ever do shows out here? Keep me posted, or email me if you need some places to play.
Jenn - thanks for the message, glad you dig the new tunes. I was jst 5 feet away from Sinead O'Connor when she was here -- Morrissey - that rules! See you soon.
In Monday’s Headlines...Tweek aka Horror Author Kristy Tallman and her BFF...Craig..aka Lauren are going to finally get their BFF tattoos...
Will Tweek uh we mean Kristy freak out too much - will she be able to sit still long enough to get it?? Will Jesse the Tattoo Artist get ticked at Craig uh we mean Lauren for constantly flipping him off??...who will end up in a persistant vegetative state first??...the questions are endless folks....Stay tuned...(For Image Please Check Your Local Kristy Tallman Myspace....in the photo album.)
OMG - I can't believe it's finally going to happen...but who decided on Monday..huh huh...you know I hate Mondays....
I would have left you a cool pic here that would have made your monday a lot easier to get through but nooo you don't like pics so I couldn't - anyway in spite of your dislike of pics might I say....
1. Mouse Meets Lizard makes me think of a movie scene road trip where people just turn on some music to rock out to
2. I like the almost trance like vibe from Labor Day Kitchen
3. I made it through Attic -for listening purposes, and it definitely belongs in a horror movie
Hey Mansard! Yeah, the same gray streets. Thassa fact. Maybe we'll meet and walk together as we trudge the road to happy destiny. Love the tunage, by the way. Cheers --KayaZ
