DORIAN (ep 2007): the first MantriKa’s musical production, characterized by acoustic sonorities perfectly matching with low-profile electronic arrangements.
PREMONIZIONI (ep 2009): the second creation of the band includes 4 pieces, composed and arranged in a typical rock style, with a hint of US sound but always in MantriKa’s typical style.
Il progetto Mantrika nasce nel 2006 da un’idea di Marco Bonvicini, il quale dopo la sua esperienza solista cantautoriale, decide di intraprendere un percorso di ricerca e sperimentazione.
Pur proponendo una fusione fra la musica d’autore italiana ed il rock grunge di Seattle della metà degli anni ’80, il “suono mantriko” si può meglio identificare come un mosaico musicale dove si intrecciano vari generi che spaziano dal rock progressive anni ’70 al grunge, dalla musica etnica all’elettronica, all’acustica cantautoriale.
Nel 2007 esce Dorian, un EP caratterizzato da sonorità acustiche e da arrangiamenti elettronici minimalisti che ben figurano nelle prime esibizioni live in locali della provincia bolognese e che successivamente saranno proposti in Rassegne Musicali e locali del Veneto e dell’Emilia-Romagna. Nel corso di queste date sono stati presentati anche nuovi brani rock contraddistinti da sonorità più elettriche che hanno incontrato un crescente favore da parte del pubblico (in particolare al Festival “Balla Bella Radio” trasmesso su Rai Uno) e che andranno a formare Premonizioni, il nuovo EP uscito nel 2009.
Il videoclip “Regina del Palco” (distribuito all’interno del CD Premonizioni), grazie ad un contratto di promozione con la Red & Blue di Marco Stanzani e realizzato grazie allo straordinario supporto dei loro fan e dei musicisti coinvolti nel progetto, sarà trasmesso anche sui maggiori network nazionali, testa d’ariete della campagna promozionale che ormai occupa a tempo pieno la band, assieme alla stagione dei Live appena iniziata.
MantriKa is a musical project by Marco Bonvicini, a Bolognese singer and songwriter. It was conceived as an introspective research and an imaginary trip in the musical world.
MantriKa is much more than a simple project – it is a band in flesh and blood, performing a mix of Italian music and Grunge Rock of the Nineties.
The genre of the band can be simply defined as rock, even though their sound is a blend of each member’s personal choices and musical taste, i.e. the prog-rock of the 70’s, the grunge of the 90’s, ethnical music, electronic music and Italian sound. Though Marco Bonvicini’s peculiar vocal gifts are emphasized, particular accuracy is devoted to arrangements and instrumental pieces as well.
After a solid experience as a soloist singer and songwriter, in 2006 Marco Bonvicini decided to try something new. He met various artists and composed new songs with them.
That’s how the MantriKa project originated.
In 2007 the first EP “Dorian” was issued, followed by a series of live exhibitions in locals and musical festivals. It was rated on Internet by several music magazines and this gave a boost to the subsequent musical production. So new pieces and new ideas were born.
The new songs met an increasing success among the public. In August 2008 MantriKa took part to “BallaBellaRadio”, a music festival broadcast by RaiUno, the first national TV channel. Consequently, MantriKa decided to record the EP “Premonizioni” (Premonitions), containing the most significant pieces performed during their live tour.
The band has signed a promotion contract for the EP “Premonizioni”, but neither recording nor editorial agreements have been reached so far. MantriKa are looking for a recording engagement. In the meantime, they are promoting their music as best as they can, by means of concerts and musical reviews.
