When Manu Delago began playing the Hang in 2003, he simultaneously discovered his passion for writing music. Three years later, he founded the band ‚Manu Delago Handmade’ and the first Bass Clarinet – Hang – duo in the world ‚Living Room’. Within two years he released three albums, which have been sold in more than 20 countries.
As a two-year-old he began what would become a very musically inclined life as he sat behind his first own drumkit. Four years later, he took accordion lessons and at the age of ten, he learned to play the piano. As a mainly Rock influenced 14-year-old, he played the drums for various bands. After graduating at the University Mozarteum in Innsbruck (Austria) in classical percussion, Manu Delago moved to London and studied Jazz Drums at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Amongst his teachers were world class musicians as Jojo Mayer, Scott Stroman or Ralph Salmins. With more than one million hits on Youtube, Manu Delago is one the world’s leading Hang players.
He had the pleasure of working together with great artists such as Shpongle, Giannis Charoulis, Boris Grebenshikov, Zabine, Bluatschink, Tom Norris, Georg Breinschmid, Wolfgang Puschnig, Christoph Pepe Auer and many many more...
Herzlichen Dank für die Verbindung - und ausserordentlich erfreulich, Dich und Deine Musik kennenzulernen. Genaugenommen bin ich auf Dich aufmerksam geworden, als ich einem Freund erkären wollte, was ein Hang ist (oder sagt man "eine Hang"?). Wir haben dann ein bischen gegoogelt, wie das heute halt so geht... Ich habe bislang ein einziges mal ein Hang live gehört - und das per Zufall (ein Kollege von Dir hangisierte in der Mainzer Fußgängerzone...). Seitdem bin ich von dem Instrument ausserordentlich fasziniert (wobei ich sagen muss, daß es live noch wesentlich beeindruckender klingt als in jeder Aufnahme, die ich bislang gehört habe...aber wahrscheinlich gilt das für jedes (akustische) Instrument...)

We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy.
Although it's not an original thought, it also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other.
We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large.
What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology!
