Manziluna, in arabo Nostra Casa, è un progetto realizzato da quattro musicisti siciliani cha da anni conducono un lavoro di sintesi incentrato sulla ricerca timbrica e compositiva tra la cultura siciliana e i linguaggi musicali contemporanei. La musica è, per i Manziluna, l'espressione dell'anima di un popolo, del modo di sentirne la vita ed essendo per sua stessa vocazione un linguaggio transculturale, è strutturalmente ricca: in essa c'è la danza, c'è il mèlos, c'è il ritmo. L'esplorazione delle proprie origini musicali si fonde così naturalmente con l'improvvisazione d'ispirazione jazzistica, con melodie di carettere mediorientale, con suoni acustici ed elettrici, con poliritmie complesse, permettendo al gruppo di re-interpretare le proprie radici culturali con nuova forza espressiva. E N G L I S H - Manziluna, in Arabic Our House, is a project realized by four Sicilian musicians who for years have been working on timbre and compositive research by comparing the Sicilian culture with contemporary music languages. For Manziluna music is the expression of a people's soul, of their way of life, and as it is by definition a trans- cultural language, it is very rich in structure, including dance,melos, and rhythm. The exploration of their musical origins is then melted with jazz improvisation, Middle-eastern melodies, acustic and electric sounds, and complex polyrhythms, allowing the group a reinterpretation of their cultural roots with a new expressive strength. -------------------------------------------------------------------- CD RECENSIE The CD of the Manziluna( which in arabic means "our house" ) is an exploration in the sicilian musical traditions of their own members (Calogero Genco alto and soprano sax ,Carmelo Graceffa drums and percussions, Fabrizio Brusca and Leo Grimaudo, guitar) with jazz improvisation, melodies with a middle-east character, acoustic and electric sounds and complex polyrhythmic lines. A music distant from all oleography for tourist use that keeps alive the evocative charm of emotions, fragrances, colors and lost memories of Sicily. GIGI RAZETE
