Bio:

I wanted to be a vet. But here I am, happy to have spent my time on learning how to play, sing and write music. No professional musicians in the family, but everybody was singing or playing all the time alone or along with recordings. One day, when I was about 6 or 7, grandma Gelina decided that I was going to take music lessons... and I did... I didn't stop until May 2006, when I graduated from a master's degree in music. I wish she could have seen that... In those 24 years in between, I've got a professional degree in classical music (piano) and a bachelor degree in jazz singing, besides the master's degree that I already mentioned, besides playing in a couple of bands, studying drama for 2 years, (finally dropping my wish of being a vet), and playing basketball in the local team. In 1994, one of my flatmates at that time used to play a tape of Ella Fitzgerald's old recordings. I liked it so much; it would cheer my heart everytime I heard her voice. From then on I started playing with other Asturian jazz musicians, who were more experienced than me, so i could learn a lot from them. Then came the Gijón Big-Band, the two recordings with this band, and more and more interesting projects and bands... until I went to study in Amsterdam in August 2000. In October 2007 I released “Red Mango” (Valomski Beat/Pias) with Bernie's Lounge and in April 2008 I released “Una Voz Lejana” (EBF) with Tierra. The biggest achievement in my music career so far, is to have written and co-produced my first solo album “El Sonar de les Semeyes” (MUSIFACTOR, December 2008) which I..m very proud of. ___________________________________________________________________ Yo quería ser veterinario. Pero aquí estoy, contenta de haber aprovechado mi tiempo en aprender a cantar, tocar y escribir música. No había músicos profesionales en la familia, pero podías pillar a cualquiera de ellos cantando por casa solo o “acompañando” los discos. Un día muy lejano, debía de tener yo 6 o 7 años, mi abuela Gelina decidió que yo iba a ir a clase de música. Y vaya si fui... y no paré hasta Mayo de 2006, cuando recibí mi título de master en música. Me habría encantado que ella lo hubiera visto... En esos 24 años que pasaron, conseguí el título profesional de piano clásico y una licenciatura en canto jazz, además del master que ya mencioné, además de formar partes de unas cuantas bandas, estudiar interpretación durante dos años, (finalmente abandonar mi deseo de ser veterinario), jugar al baloncesto en el equipo de Pola.... En 1995, uno de mis compañeros de piso de entonces solía poner una cinta de las primeras canciones de Ella Fitzgerald. Me encantaba; se me ponía cara de tonta de la felicidad que me daba escuchar su voz. Desde ahí empecé a cantar en formaciones de jazz con músicos asturianos que tenían mucha más experiencia que yo, así que pude aprender un montón con ellos. Entonces después ya llegó la etapa de la Big-Band de Gijón, los dos discos que publicamos, y más y más bandas y proyectos muy interesantes... hasta que me fui a estudiar a Amsterdam en Agosto del 2000. En Octubre de 2007, publiqué “Red Mango” (Valomski Beat/Pias) con Bernie's Lounge www.bernieslounge.com y en Abril de 2008 salió “Una Voz Lejana” (EBF) de Tierra www.tierra-music.com . El mayor logro de mi carrera musical hasta ahora, es el haber escrito y co-producido mi primer disco en solitario “El Sonar de Les Semeyes” (MUSIFACTOR) en Diciembre de 2008, del cual estoy orgullosísima.
