The Mission Arts & Performance Project (MAPP) is a bi-monthly collaboration between visual artists, musicians, performers, residents and business owners in the San Francisco Mission District. The MAPP brings art and performance on the street level by hosting arts programs in alternative spaces such as private garages, basements, street corners and studios.
By transforming these places into mini-galleries and makeshift performance venues, MAPP demonstrates how ordinary spaces can be made extraordinary through the force of our combined effort and imagination. It brings people, whose paths may not have intersected, together to share in a diverse experience of art and performance. These ordinary venues invite folks who might not ever enter a gallery or theater to experience an evening of poetry, dance, fine visual art, experimental theater and music...all for free.
The MAPP is run entirely through volunteers and artists who want to share their work in a setting where the population on the street can encounter it. If you would like to get involved, come to a meeting listed on the calendar or contact us at mappsf@yahoogroups.com I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)

The MAPP is at the base of creativity for the Mission. But, you have to come see what this community of artists is doing for yourself. There is nothing like it in the world.
