I like 12th century troubadours, Marvin Gaye, the animal kingdom and the God Mercury. If they were in a band together, there would most likely be musical differences. Marvin, particularly in later life, was a drug addict - the troubadours all have wanderlust - Mercury's an egomaniac and due to the food chain, if you put the animal kingdom in the studio for any length of time, you tend to just end up with the carnivores (none of whom can sing). So it falls to me to try and reproduce the sound of these four elements as I heard them in my Birmingham bedroom at the end of the last century.
Whilst struggling with this magnum opus, I am also one fifth of Mr Hudson and the Library. Listen out for me in the lower octaves...
Hey Maps! Remember getting the band to sign a picture for a guy at the Glee Club for a friends wedding? Wanted to say a big thank you to you, our friends loved it and have started married life with the coolest present ever! Once again, a big thank you to you, you're a gent and will maybe catch you in Manchester or Leeds and buy you a drink to say thanks! Cheers, Kez & Ste and Tim & Anna (The Newlyweds!)
Alright mate, good to see you the other weekend, hope I wasn't too much of a tipsy oaf. Thinking about maybe going up to Durness to see youse on my birthday, reckon you might need the support of a fey Englishman that far north...
Hi Mr. French
I just acquired the new album and it is simply wonderful. The Library has certainly come a long way since I saw you at the Candy Bar so long ago. And your fine bass-lines have inspired me to pick up my own bass, whose latest gig has been collecting a significant amount of dust. Come play in Tel Aviv; Israelis adore the English.

Don't know if you rockstars actually check these things but, what the heck, i might as well scribble a few lines.
I am coming back to sweet London next week. Aiming to see you bunch (hopefully) on Tuesday. Very excited to see Amy live..crossing my fingers that she will be in a good state.
