Check back at www.mapsmagazine.co.uk soon for our annual music downloads advent calendar!!!
We are planning some exciting new changes to Maps, and we are looking for creative people with a passion for new music and arts who would like to join in.
We'd love to hear from you if you have the enthusiasm and ideas to bring exciting, innovative music and arts to the world wide web; whether you have years of experience or are just starting out.
Maps is entirely run by volunteers, and generates no money (unlike some sites we prefer not to clutter our pages with adverts), so we can't offer any cash for your endeavours, but you will have the opportunity to get onto guestlists for shows, receive new releases for free, interview & photograph some of your favourite bands, find new favourites and be given the freedom to be creative with your work (which will of course be given full credit on the website) and to express your opinions and ideas.
If you're interested in writing, photographing, drawing, painting, animating, photoshopping or just generally being creative for Maps, please get in touch with our Editor, Paul with some examples of your work and any ideas that you have for features/articles/bands we should be covering at: paulmaps@mapsmagazine.co.uk
We're always looking for something new to get excited by, so if you're creating new, innovative music/art/literature/film then get in touch at the above email address with some examples of your work & if we like it, we'll feature it on Maps.
We're also looking for bands, labels, venues and other music biz types to write one-off articles for the site - get in touch with some ideas for articles at the above address.

Maps is a new music webzine from the makers of Joyzine featuring articles, interviews, downloads, photography, reviews, profiles, gig listings and more about what we believe are the most exciting bands around at the moment.
Who I'd like to meet: Bands that would like their music reviewed, music writers that would like to review them, photographers that would like to photograph them, and illustrators that would like to draw them.
Shot By Both Sides keep Halloween alive in one far-flung corner of Brixton! Expect a spektakular soireé at the Brixton Windmill on Friday 13th November. Degeneracy, bloodlust and Bacchanalian debauchery in abundance...
Fanzine handout, cakes, poetry, stories, humanoid beasts, a gritty psych/freakout jazz/fucked-pop/post-punk soundtrack, and some disturbingly delightful live sets from DAVID CRONENBERG’S WIFE (Album Launch for ‘Hypnagogues’), GYRATORY SYSTEM, DEATHRAY TREBUCHAY and JAMIE N COMMONS.
We're playing two gigs this weekend and we'd love to see you there! Friday night it's Lady Luck at Last Days of Decadence and Saturday it's Shore Leave at the George Tavern!
Its been selling faster than we expected, and we currently only have around a quarter of our stock left - so we thought we'd better you all know that if you want a copy then now would be a good time to pick one up! If you buy it from the link above then you're buying it direct from us, the label aren't taking a cut - so its a bit like Fair Trade for struggling musicians.
International mail-order is available, just follow the instructions.
Thank you very much, and sorry for making a mess of your profile. If its any kind of consolation, we don't have a MySpace bot, so I'm leaving these comments the old fashioned way. Three -and-a-half thousand of them. My life is so exciting.
This
bank holiday Sunday we’re playing the Carnival aftershow party at
Ginglik, Shepherd’s Bush Green. It’s gonna be great! Come along and say
hello.
Or,
on Friday 4th September we’re playing at the very cool Born Bad night
which is normally in Brighton but has made the trip up to London for a
change. It’s at Barden’s Boudoir.
The debut album by St. Gregory Orange is out now for the very reasonable sum of £5. We could tell you it's amazing (because it is) but look at what other people have said about it:
'We could do with more individualists like St Gregory Orange.' 8/10 This Is Fake DIY
'A unique sort of mad-professor' Sheffield Music
'A 20 something Adrian Mole doing Four Tet' 4/5 The Beat Surrender
'A slow motion dream' 3.5/5 Manchester Music
So go on take a chance and if you like tell your friends
