My ultimate goal is to be an Oscar-winning screenwriter and filmmaker, published author and motivational speaker. Other than being a mom, pretty much all of me is geared towards those goals, whether reading novels and scripts, watching movies, or writing my own works. While this is my fantasy, the past year sobered me up to "real-life" and I am returning to school for my Master's Degree in English so I can teach in a community college, as the ubiquitous "day job" to support me and keep me free to follow my writing and filmmaking dreams. Sounds cocky, but I have to believe in me first before anyone else will. Just watch me! As the actor/director/writer/producer Vin Diesel--who inspired me to return to college in my thirties--says: "Never try to convince somebody what you do. Do it and show them."
  • Music

Depeche Mode, INXS, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana . . . I love a wide variety of music, but most of my favorites tend to be classed as "Alternative"-a pretty apt description of my overall tastes in life . . .
  • Movies

So many movies have inspired me to follow in the footsteps of those filmmakers, but here's a "short" list: Adaptation, Moulin Rouge, Evita, The Lost Boys, Jaws, The Godfather, RKO 281, Talk to Her, Leaving Argentina, Jezebel, Sunset Boulevard, Starship Troopers
  • Television

British Murder Mysteries: Cadfael, Midsomer Murders, Agatha Christie adaptations Every show in the Law and Order and CSI franchises; Without a Trace, Cold Case, NUM3ERS--I LOVE crime dramas! If I had any math/science skills I would be a forensic scientist! Rescue Me and Oz
  • Books

Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg Mystery novels and science fiction . . . when I am not reading the great works of literature that I actually find enjoyable. I love Joyce, Hardy, Hemingway, Wharton, Balzac and so many others!
  • Heroes

My son, for putting up with a cranky mommy through the years I battled depression and chronic illness and for giving me the strength to fight those twin demons. My husband for his joy in watching me blossom into the new creation that is beginning to emerge from the chrysalis that entombed me for so long. He is my strongest supporter in life and in my becoming the person that I am destined to be. My mother for surviving and thriving in life after her divorce, and raising me to realize what is really important in life--my beautiful family and that blessed first grandchild that I gave her! My father for proving to me that we can conquer our personal demons if we have the right support system around us. My mother-in-law for all her help in raising our son when my health caused complications and her support for my completing my education. My father-in-law (RIP) for having been the kind and gregarious person that he was, setting an example of how to network and make friends everywhere.

About me:

Wife, Mommy, Student--keeping busy and trying to get it all together in a hectic life and still have time to cuddle my son and husband. Reading, writing and watching movies for school assignments--and when that's caught up, reading, writing and watching movies for sheer pleasure! I am obsessed with movies--watching them, studying them, writing them when I get caught up on school work--my dream is to win an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. It can happen! ..

Who I'd like to meet:

For networking and professional purposes: filmmakers, writers, photographers. Fellow sufferers of fibromyalgia, interstitial cystitis, arthritis, neuropathy and other chronic conditions that impair our abilities to live a "normal" life. Three people I wish I could have met who inspire me to burn my candle brightly even though my health may give me as short a life as theirs: Evita Peron, Princess Diana and John F. Kennedy Jr. In each of their careers and in their personal lives they showed a dedication to living life to the fullest and to helping others also have safe and wonderful lives.

Hello, My Friend. I'm sorry that I left facebook without warning. My boyfriend was beginning to question my loyalties to him because of a few of the messages I recieved from other users. In effort to keep the relationship happy and healthy, I left facebook. I also realized how many hours I spent online, and I wasn't very proud of the amount of time I was putting off things that were much more important. I miss talking to you, and I hope you are feeling well today.

Thanks for your comment about my blog...Being a musician I get so annoyed with American Idol, but it's like a train wreck--I can't help but look.
