About me:
Marc Asturias
A graduate of the University of Tampa and an ex U.S. Air Force International Instructor, as well as a Department of Defense certified Technical Training Instructor, who originally specialized in electronics maintenance, instructional series design, computing and signals intelligence systems. Marc continued at the Air University in Montgomery, Alabama for his A.S.E.E. and later at the University of Texas, where he studied for his M.S.E.E. along with an Air Force commissioning program.
After serving during Desert Storm, he continued his public service a an educator and managed technology projects in Florida. He was later recruited for an Apple related technology position.
Marc Asturias and the late Bill Douthett were founders and hosts of the highly acclaimed show, "The Wizards of Technology" (WoT), one of the first podcasts. The show was featured as a "must listen to" on NPR. A partial guest list from their show reads like a Who's Who to the Technology world, and includes such personalities as Wil Wheaton, Amanda Congdon, Laura Burstein, Leo LaPorte, Rick Yaeger, August Trommetter, Chris Hoar, David Pogue, Andy Ihnatko, Chris Breen, Jon Gales, Nitrozac and Snaggy, Rob Griffiths, and brief interviews withSteve Wozniak, and Phil Schiller. The Wizards of Technology also features the "Duke University Campus Report with Richard Lucic."
Marc began his initial foray into broadcast journalism during college at WZBT. He continued working on projects, both on-air and off, at Jones Intercable, Paragon/Time-Warner, Fox, and Florida Sports Network. He is a long-standing member of Tampa Bay Community Network Television. Marc directed the first implementations of Final Cut Pro based, non-linear video editing and on-air solutions at CBS, Warner Bros Television, and the Discovery Channel in South Florida.
He is also a writer, linguist, and translator, member of the Northern California Translators Association (ATA), TransMug, and MacLingua. Marc has authored technical manuals, user documentation, online materials, software texts, and other technical materials for various organizations.
Marc has put his engineering background to use in several Apple programs over the years, including: Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP), Apple Authorized Training Center (AATC), Apple Professional Services (APS), and others.
He currently works as a private technology consultant in Silicon Valley, and provides his expertise in the areas of project management, engineering, technical writing, and training. He is often recognized for his work in the areas of new media and podcasting. He has worked for, or on behalf of such companies as Apple Computer, Symantec, Veritas, Simultrans, Department of Defense, General Dynamics and others. Marc has served on several corporate advisory boards, mentored start-ups, and worked with several charitable organizations and community groups.
