Marc and Dede Alderman take you on a musical trip around the world.
This exciting percussion duo explains and performs Irish folk music, West
African drumming, South Indian classical music, American Jazz classics by
Gershwin, Gillespie and Ellington, as well as dynamic original compositions.
Both hold college degrees in music with a major in percussion, have studied
ethnic drumming techniques with traditional masters in their native lands,
and have led hundreds of drum circles throughout Michigan. During their
performances, they play a wide array of instruments including drum set,
vibraphone, voice, kalimba, flute and hand drums from diverse cultures.
Audience members become part of the performance using unique, hand-held
percussion instruments provided by the Aldermans. In their workshops, they
share their growing knowledge of percussion techniques with participants in
a hands-on environment. Their performances and workshops are fun,
educational and appropriate for all ages.
