BIOGRAPHY
MARCELO BEROT
Marcelo Berot, born in Montevideo. He began to play guitar at age 15 and goes up for the first time on stage.
In 1976 he left his country and begins to travel with his guitar by, Israel, England, Italy, France, Sweden, Denmark, being sharing the stage with different musicians and bands.
But it was the Blues and the Candombe, the styles that have always been present through out his musical career.
In 1985, arrives in Spain, and for several years accompanying many singers. From them till now, he has formed many bands, among them, YORUGUA (in Madrid), COTTON BLUES (in Tenerife), and his present Band “LASKINA”, which is a fusion of Candombe (afro-uruguayan rhythm) and Blues.
Blues-dombe, is the fruit of the union of these two styles and comprises main of their repertoire, without forgetting the traditional Blues.
Blues-dombe is a music with rhythmical force that in addition transmits the root of these two styles.

MARCELO BEROT (GUITARRISTA), NACE EN MONTEVIDEO Y A LOS 15 AÑOS COMIENZA A TOMAR CLASES DE GUITARRA CLASICA, COMPAGINANDO ESTOS ESTUDIOS CON ACTUACIONES TOCANDO FOLKLORE Y CANDOMBE.
EN 1976 DEJA URUGUAY Y RESIDE EN VARIOS PAISES, COMPARTIENDO ESCENARIO CON MUSICOS DE DIFERENTES ESTILOS MUSICALES.
EN ISRAEL SE INTEGRA AL GRUPO “MALAMBO” COMO GUITARRA SOLISTA DURANTE TRES AÑOS Y DA CLASES EN EL CONSERVATORIO DE MUSICA DE HAIFA.
EN INGLATERRA TOCA CON DIFERENTES BANDAS DE BLUES Y REGAE Y ASISTE A UN SEMINARIO CON BERNIE KESSEL.
AL CABO DE DOS AÑOS VIAJA A ITALIA Y SE UNE AL GRUPO DE ROCK “VARAGO” CON LA QUE GRABA Y TRABAJA DURANTE DOS AÑOS.
DE CAMINO A ESPAÑA, SE QUEDA UNOS MESES EN FRANCIA DONDE ACTUA EN DIFERENTES LOCALES NOCTURNOS.
UNA VEZ EN ESPAÑA, EN 1985, VIAJA A SUECIA Y GRABA TRES DISCOS CON EL CANTAUTOR URUGUAYO “ANIBAL SAMPAYO” CON EL QUE VA DE GIRA POR SUECIA, DINAMARCA, Y ARGENTINA.
DE REGRESO A ESPAÑA (MADRID), ACOMPAÑA A ISABEL MONTERO, ELSA BAEZA, CRISTINA BERTULO, LAGRIMA RIOS, ROSA MARIA LOBO, ALICIA CRESTE, RAFAEL CERVERA Y CARMEN AGUADO ENTRE OTROS, TRABAJANDO EN PUBS COMO TOLDERIA, RINCON DEL ARTE, PUB 23, ETC. Y FORMA EL GRUPO DE CANDOMBE “YORUGUA”.
EN 1991 LLEGA A TENERIFE, DONDE RESIDE ACTUALMENTE Y EN 1994 FORMA “COTTON BLUES” ACTUANDO TODOS ESTOS AÑOS HASTA LA FECHA, EN SALAS DE FIESTA, DISCOTECAS, PUBS, HOTELES, PLAZAS, FESTIVALES COMO “SANTA BLUES” DE TELONERO DE “IKE TURNER” EN EL 2006, Y TAMBIEN EN LAS ISLAS DE LA GOMERA Y EL HIERRO.
HA CURSADO ESTUDIOS DE ARMONIA CON DANIEL JOHANSEN, ASISTIDO A SEMINARIOS Y MASTER CLASS, LA ULTIMA CON ALBERT CUMINGS.
ACTUALMENTE ESTA TRABAJANDO EN SU PROPIO PROYECTO QUE HA DENOMINADO “BLUES-DOMBE”, FUSION DE BLUES CON CANDOMBE (RITMO AFRO-URUGUAYO)
