Bio

Founded on a dark, cold and gloomy attic in the heart of winter of 2008, Marche Funebre started out with three, being Peter (lead guitar), Roel (bass) & Kurt (rhythm guitar). Once the pact was sealed the quest to find other musicians started. Soon singer Arne joined the ranks and not much later a drummer completed the band, in the shape of 'Biest' Dennis.
By the Autumn of 2008 the band was ready to hit the stages and so they did! Live baptism went great alongside some of the scene's finest bands like Ataraxie, Syrach, Insanity Reigns Supreme, Hooded Priest, My Lament and Faal to name a few.
Hereafter the band recorded 'Norizon', their debut EP, which was released in March 2009 and was supported by some touring throughout Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany with The Eternal, as well as some gigs with Fungus Inc., FireForece and Illumination. With as climax a spot on the second Hauting the Chapel fest supporting ao Evoken, Isole and Officium Triste... Autumn brought the band a mini-tour with the Swedish masters of doom Isole and an exclusive acoustic set for Belgium's leading metal magazine Mindview.
In 2010 more gigs followed and also the final songs for the upcoming full length album were written. Early October the band entered the Excess studios in Rotterdam, known for its work with Officium Triste, Hail of Bullets, Epica and tons of others.
Describing the bands musical direction is not an easy task as Marche Funebre only follows its own path. At this point doom/death metal with hints to classic doom and black metal fit the band like a -black leather- glove.

My Dying Bride, Katatonia, old Paradise Lost, old skool death metal, ...
  • Sounds Like

Marche Funebre makes doom/death with strong elements of demo-era My Dying Bride and Celtic Frost's slower tracks. The music also includes melodic and high-paced parts which are clearly influenced by death metal, but here one could also draw similarities to viking metal forerunner Bathory.
