George Strait, Chris LeDoux, Clay Walker, Chely Wright, Linda Ronstadt, Patty Loveless, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Terri Clark... and anything that is GOOD MUSIC!
Her friends call her fun and outgoing, her family thinks she is determined and loving, and her fans say she is energetic and has all the tools it takes to make her mark in country music. With a grin shell tell you she is just a country girl at heart who has always been a believer in dreams...and isnt that where it all starts?
Growing up in the small southwestern town of Nevada, MO, she began performing locally at the age of 8 calling for a square dance club and practicing in her mothers beauty shop. Her love of performing and music was then nurtured by a great support system of family, friends, and instructors along the way, and during high school she began performing with local bands, which she continued throughout her college career.
Since Marci had a full volleyball scholarship waiting for her after high school graduation and was in the top 10 of her class, not going to college ever entered her mind. She proved to be a true leader during her two years at FSCC in Ft. Scott, KS and was awarded as the Outstanding Sophomore student, as well as co-captain of the volleyball team, Outstanding Music student, and crowned Homecoming queen her freshman year. During this busy time, she still remained active in the college choir and made time to continue performing on weekends with her band.
Although music was pulling Marci in its direction, she decided to stay in college and finish her bachelor degree in English. She was selected into the Honors College at Pittsburg State University and offered a full academic scholarship as well as a choir scholarship. While at PSU she also starred as lead roles in productions that include the rock opera, TOMMY and Moliers Tartuffe. Since music was taking up more of her time and effort, there wasnt much time left for collegiate sports and Marci began to dedicate more of her life to music. After graduating PSU with honors of Magna Cum Laude, she was finally prepared to make the musical journey to Nashville.
Loaded up with some furniture, no job, and no hard-core plan, Marci moved to Nashville to pursue her dream. She was fortunate enough to meet some established writers and musicians from the start and quickly realized that there is no such thing as a fast track. Just over a year later, after a lot of blood, sweat and tears were shed, Marci finished her first CD that highlights some of the fine writing in Nashville. Along with those songs, the CD also features Marcis own songwriting skills on Heart Full of Love, Waitin for Mr. Right and Just Show Me Love.
After some hard lessons learned, Marci, armed with Nashville knowledge and her debut CD, decided to put together her own band and hit the road! Like every known star before her has done, Marci took to the highway to discover her sound, get some experience, and let the country become exposed to her music. Exposed they are for the last four years, Marci and her band have kept extremely busy bringing their music to nearly 25 states across the Midwest between Pennsylvania and New Mexico! The Marci Mitchell Band has opened for the likes of Brooks n Dunn, Trick Pony, Joe Diffie, Sammy Kershaw, Ty England, and many more. Marci has also gained regional sponsors and just recently earned an endorsement by Nacona Belts.
Although she lives and breathes music most of the time, when Marci isnt on stage, she enjoys a variety of activities that include riding horses, playing volleyball, softball, golf, or basically participating in anything athletic, competitive, or outdoorsy. She loves to ride her motorcycle, watch movies, write, and spend time with her family and friends when she has time off the road.
