Television
I've never owned a television, but I've occasionally viewed other people's sets (such as my parents' when I was a child). I also read a fair amount about it, so I feel somewhat informed but I wouldn't say I'm a connoisseur. As with everything, its a mix of pros and cons. Not watching T.V. frees up some of my time and allows me to avoid at least one source of unwanted psychological programming (advertisements and anxiety-inducers) but it also sometimes keeps me ignorant about the latest current events and cultural trends.
Books
A few of my favourite authors:
Rita Mae Brown, William S. Burroughs, Roald Dahl, Jean Genet, H. P. Lovecraft, Beatrix Potter, John Rechy, David Sedaris, John Kennedy Toole, David Foster Wallace, Andy Warhol ('a'), and Tennessee Williams
Heroes
There are many people I admire in various ways, I'm even personally grateful to some for the sharing of their talents and traits... but still I hesitate to call anybody a hero. I don't think its a healthy dynamic. Hero worship may be one of the core reasons why the world has its leaders and followers, its actors and spectators, its haves and have-nots. More than identifying heroism in others, let everyone try to cultivate it in themselves. You be a hero... I will too.
A casually militant individualist with a vivid imagination and rich fantasy life (shared physical reality okay too). I enjoy my own company but also dig genuinely pleasurable interactions with others. Essentially, the concept of balance is the leitmotif of my existence and thus I strive to maintain dynamic equilibrium within and between all facets of my being.
I am at least somewhat aware that I am not perfect and often marvel at the profundity of my errors and oversights... but I don't let it faze me. I treasure my idiosyncrasies for they have served me well in the context of my own experience.
Of course we are all agnostic whether we admit it or not, but my own beliefs take Occam's sharp path of least ridiculousness. I see no evidence for divine beings, conscious existence after death or any philosophical meaning to life other than what we choose... Thus I am fundamentally sane. Yet despite this serious flaw, I do cultivate a keen appreciation for the poetic and impractical, as well as embracing a quasi-pagan ethos just for the psycho-dramatic release of it all. Sad. Mad. Glad. (Tripolar this order!).
In short, I try to cultivate my sense of self, work with my strengths and cut myself a break for being an imperfect part of an imperfect whole. You don't need a higher power (or be trying to quit the sauce) to benefit from application of the serenity prayer.
Cheers, friend! (?)

Who I'd like to meet: [inverted interrobang] hypomanic iconoclast, polymath wannabe, and freak-aesthete seeks same (but different) for collaborative explorations of assorted actual and conceptual facets of existence, including brief glimpses of that most unnatural abomination: freedom [interrobang]
By the way, feel free to check out my own website at marckmenke.com
...and I also have a facebook profile. I don't use it very much since I prefer the greater creativity and social connectivity of myspace... but here is a link to it if you're interested: Facebook me!
...and besides my MySpace videos, I also put stuff up at YouTube. There is some overlap but not everything is the same.
... and check out my MySpace music profile, MarckMusick (NOT 'Marckmusic')... or just go to the top of my Top 40.
Anyhoo, my days of reincarnation are DONE! I ain't comin' back nooooo more! This is my LAST ROUND on this stupid planet-thank goodness! Besides, I got a Coyote Brush now-& it's a GIRL!!! I think I need to be passing out pink cigars or something-I feel so proud! Haha. You know, you can get a laptop these days pretty cheap considering. Oh, & now they got those cutesy tiny laptops that are like $200-300! They are sooooo cute, if you don't mind a 10" screen! Fabulously portable though! However, if you're in the market for a Mac-well, nothin' comes cheap in the world of Apple! How do you think they can afford their liver transplants?! Cheers, ~C*
Oh yes, the Mephisto Waltz w/Alan Alda. Yeah, I remember that movie! Haha. I just happened to watch an episode of MASH last night & saw him. Yeah, it wasn't as cool as Rosemary's Baby or It's Alive!-that's for sure! "Poultrygeist" just came via Netflix, & also "Bigger, Faster, More" (no, not a porno-some documentary on steroids in sports I think). Haha. I still have to watch "Iron Monkey 2" as well. Finally saw "An Inconveinient Truth" the other night. Didn't know it was just Al showing a billion charts, but the info. was good. Sad, you know? Never was a fan of his, but I have to give him kudos for actually taking the time to go around the world to spread the message just because he can. I have to admit it's a pleasant change to see a politician actually use their influence & resources to do something worthwhile!
I do plan on doing some artwork for sure. I'm feeling the Karen Carpenter collection creeping up on me actually-& I think some fingerpainting is gonna' make it's way into that collection. Speaking of living suicides-she's a perfect example! Oh yeah, pondering death is a great subject-& suicide indeed is multi-faceted! I enjoy the idea of death-as I see it as the ultimate "freedom", however I feel suicide is just plain stupid for the most part. It's best to let nature take you out as you're supposed to go-whether it be by disease or a car accident. I kind of view suicide as a disturbance of universal flow, however at the same time, those who commit suicide may be doing exactly as they are supposed to be doing-since it is said that every soul has it's own destiny that is pre-determined. They will just be reincarnated to do it all over again most likely.
My, my, my, Delilah! Why, why, why? Delilah! Oh, I'm doing much better now. Getting over my feelings of rage & hate! Haha. Ironically yesterday-just when I thought I was going to start a relaxing week (minus the holiday shit), the washing machine flooded half the downstairs! Uh-huh. Spent a few hrs. last night sucking up the water w/a shop vac-joy of joys! I haven't done much outdoors, but I definitely plan on it! I feel the need to commune w/the plants lately. It's very healing actually. Yeah, I've been thinking about taking a little break from all this work stuff, etc. I realize I've pretty much worked non-stop since I was 16! I think maybe I had a short period here & there a LONG time ago where I didn't have a job, but I've pretty much always had them back to back since....forever! I think I've earned a break from "workin' for the man" by now. I filed for UI yesterday, but it'll take a while for that to get going. It takes 10 days to hear from them & then you have to fill out another form to mail in I guess. Whatever. I'll be ok. Being "freed up" feels kind of good though-I admit. Wish I never had to work again...oh...retirement! It's a persistent fantasy of mine!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! OH!!!! Well, reading that just made me laugh! (Thanks, I NEEDED that at the moment). It's been a grueling couple of days for me. I feel like my stomach is one big knot! (see other email regarding LEUM). I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow-hell, maybe I'll sleep half the day-who knows! Just want to crawl inside my shell for awhile & not come out...Your description of "Night Tide" sounds so fab! I can almost picture it in my head. The rich imagery...young Dennis Hopper in his sailor suit...the beatnik life...ahhhhhh, I so heart the beatnik poetry coffee house...Oh, I finally watched "The Machinist" on Sat. WHOA!!!! Is Christian Bale SKINNY or what in that???!!! It's rather frightening really-but what a good movie. Bizarre in a "Fight Club" (hey, I'm not crazy-you're crazy) kinda' way. Well done though-his acting is superb! I esp. liked his relationship w/the hooker-plus the movie made you feel grimy like you needed a shower (much like Sid & Nancy & Trainspotting does). I uneartherd a box w/some old SNAP-O-GRAMS in it too a while back. Isn't it such a delight to look upon them again? I mean, really-they were SOOOOO FUNNY! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY! I couldn't stop laughing-we were soooo creative! Hahaha! Oh, how I wish we could just start our own planet...filled w/glamour & much SNAP! To not ever have to live in this society's "reality" again. No need for money, stupid jobs, bills, etc. Just live & do whatever you want & create art. I go there in my head often... ~C*
Hi Marck, oh yessssssssss...eggnog IS evil in it's very essence! EggYOG! Hahaha! Hey, TONIGHT there's gonna' be a huge meteor shower from 1am-dawn! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33891078/ns/technology_and_science-space/?GT1=43001 I'm gonna' go out & see if anything is visible tonight. I hope I see something! COOL! Can you believe in asia they will see 200-300 meteors per hr.???? WOWWW!!!! Ok, more later. ~C*
Hey, check out this news article I came across the other day! This made me laugh because it's just sooooooooo US (as in "US" back in the 'unholy trinity' alliance days)! Haha. Seriously, it's something any 3 of us would have done out of vanity back in the neon pink castle! Well, @ least me & the Creamaster would have-not sure if you were quite that vain. Oh, sure you were-just look @ those leggings! (giggle)!
Mon., Nov . 9, 2009
LONDON - A British man on the run from police sent a picture of himself to his local paper because he disliked the mugshot they had printed of him as part of a public appeal to track him down. South Wales Police had issued media with the photo of Matthew Maynard, wanted by officers investigating a house burglary, as part of a crackdown on crime in Swansea. When it appeared in the South Wales Evening Post, the 23-year-old sent the newspaper a replacement photo of himself standing in front of a police van. They obligingly printed it on the front page. The police thanked him for helping them in their appeal, saying: "Everyone in Swansea will know what he looks like now."
Whaaaaaaaaa? Steve Burton (whom I can't remember) impersonated a Marine? Ummmmm...WHY? Is he just a complete idiot or what? (nevermind, you don't have to answer that...)! I do remember Colleen Salonga though. Now I'm curious as to what Steve looked like though. I'm sure I'd remember him if I saw a pic of him. That's just absolutely ridiculous though! RIDICULOUS!!! Oh, I haven't even started on the fingerpainting yet if you can believe that! There's been a some recent distractions that have gotten in the way-however I hope to get on that SOON. Maybe next week if all goes well. I'm starting to slowly feel the 'buzz' of a Carpenter's resurgence though. It might soon be time to actually start exploring that Karen Carpenter collection I want to do. I put it on hold because I was feeling other projects much more a the time. I'm really not exactly sure how to go about the fingerpainting project or what to call the collection. Have any ideas? I guess I can just see what happens once I start. Oh, I didn't know there were non-edible ornamental asparagi! How exciting! Hey, did you get the pics I sent you of the "mystery bush?" Cheers, ~C*
Yeah, those lousy bastards deleted it! Leum doesn't exist on YouTube anymore (sob) !!! Maybe it's contents were too "mind bending" for the masses? Bwaaaahaahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! The evil molasses image sent too many unsuspecting minds into a state of psychological catatonia!!! Go figure. Oh, if you could retrieve it, that would be the greatest thing since the Necronomicon! Well, you know I'll always vote YES when it comes to you creating some greatly needed SNAP!TACULAR films!
Eggnog is the venom of the beast! Turn the word upside-down & the 3-g's in eggnog = 666! (gasp!)
Dear Professor Menke, I'm in dire need of your botanical expertise. There's a strange bush growing in my front yard that I didn't plant. Must have gotten seeded by the birds or something. It's growing fast & has gotten pretty large now. A week or two ago it had a bazillion tiny green buds on it that have now bloomed into teeeeeeny-tiny yellow flowers. The flowers are suuuuuper fragrant too. They smell like honey & you can smell them from across the yard. The bees really like them too. I'll take a pic of it & send it to you so you can see what it is. I'm sure you'll most likely recognize what it is easily since you're the EXPERT in all things stemmed, leaved, & petaled. ~C*
Oh, really? That sounds nice. I love palms & bonsais! Hey, a tragic thing happened here @ the Temple! I discovered that your one-of-a-kind MASTERPIECE VOICE OVER GAG-MIX VERSION LEUM VIDEO CLIP has been deleted off of the page!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! It seems to "not exist" on YouTube anymore (I searched for it)! WTF???!!!! I'm at a loss...it was a MOST IMPORTANT video clip for the page here. Is there anyway you can download it again-if you still have it? So, does YouTube just delete videos after awhile or what? It's so unfair...! On a brighter note: IHOP has some new "seasonal pancakes" available currently! I saw a commercial for them. I believe there's gingerbread, eggnog (yuck!), & pecan pie pancakes. Ooooooooooooooooooooooooh, be still my heart! Maybe this weekend I'll go "investigate" that & do some taste testing! JOY! Cheers, ~C*
"The Chapel of St. Nowhere"-HEHEHEHE! Oh yeah, leave it to the T.O.S.-we don't turn down anything remotely abnormal! Uh-huuuuh. Well, I've been screwing around on the computer for waaay too long tonight & gotta' get some sleep finally, BUT I had to share w/you that the Halloween cat fashion pics are posted now & I'm seriously thinking I might need to make an official "Cat Fashions" album on the Temple page, just cuz'. It IS kind of SNAPPY! you know? We can branch out into wardrobe! I also made this FUN "popart" piece from the computer magic of myspace & my very own original Predator graphite sketch: Isn't that just FAB?!?! Of COURSE I put it in the SNAP!Hol collection album where it belongs! SQUEAL! I was actually planning to make one of these w/paint, but haven't gotten around to it yet. When I do, it'll be even more beautiful! Ta-ta-4-now, ~C*
Ooooooooh, it's officially 'DAY OF THE DEAD' now! How exciting!!! I forgot to mention a couple of SNAPilicious tidbits to you earlier! #1.) Bought some FINGERPAINTS today! (SQUEAL!!!!!) I'm going to create a new SNAP! project/album of all-spontaneous abstract fingerpaints! (It ain't just for children no more!). These will be the epitamy of EVIL in fingerpainting! Hahaha. I'm bringing it to a new level (or LOW), as only SNAP! can do! In fact, I might even have a volunteer (trying to talk him into it anyway) to let me do a 'dickpaint'! Yes, you read right! A different "appendage" to use other than fingers! Hahaha! Oh, can you feel the excitement (like the slow burn of a herpes sore emerging during a flareup/breakout)?!! And #2.) Gonna' upload the latest Halloween cat-fashions too. Yeah, I sent a couple pics to your "other email", but I think the fashions deserve an upload onto here don't ya' think? #3.) FINALLY took a couple pics of this years Alienscalpel.com promo pens (to be uploaded into the proper album on the Temple page). Hmmmmmm, what else? I can't remember now-that may be it-but jolly-HELL that's MORE THAN ENOUGH isn't it????!!! Zoinks! ~C*
"They say that everything we're seeking, is also looking for us and if we stay silent everything will be found".
May all your dreams come true.
I wish you many blessings for your continued success in all your aspirations. Let's remain very good friends now that we've found each other.
Thank you for sharing your space with me ~ I hope you enjoy some of my songs & other offerings on my page. I'd be very grateful if you can share our work with your friends also.
Peace. Life. Truth. Stay well, stay close. Always,
Dear Brother Marck, I'd stay away from "SALTPETER"ing (don't be thinking dirty!) too if I were you! It sounds painful (ahem). Yeah, I'm all for therapeutic denial. It's a great remedy! I think I'll take a LARGE DOSE of it NOW as a matter-O-fact! Ahhhhhh, there we go, muuuuuch better! I used to dream of being a secular monk too (no lie!), but of course that would have to be post sex change op-if they'd let me into the monastery that is. Hell, there MUST be a monstery for trannys SOMEWHERE in the world, right? Hehehe. Speaking of trannys, saw a couple last night in SF to my great joy! Ahhhhhh, the nightlife of small, strange bars out in the boony, wherehouse districts. Mmmmmm...makes you feel like you need a hot shower when you leave one of those places...& maybe a naked spray down of bacteriacide as well...but alas it's all in GOOD FUN! I was also privvvy to some "secret info." last night about Disneyland's "UN-OFFICIAL GAY DAY" (which just happened evidently). Oh, yesssss-they have an UN-OFFICIAL day of it-did you know about this? It was news to me, & I find it soooooo funny that it's all "hush-hush"! HAHAHA! Gee, why don't they want to go public w/that one eh'??? HAHAHA! I guess if they did, they would also have to fess up to their "UN-OFFICIAL HELLS ANGELS DAY" & KKK day as well!!! HO-HO-HO! And a HAPPY SAMHAIN TO YOU TO MY NEWEST MONK FRIEND! MySpaceLayoutSup
Hey, I recorded a new song a few days ago, it's called Masquerade--based on the ballroom scene of Romeo and Juliet. Just wanted to stop by and give you the free download if you'd like it and haven't picked it up yet:
I hope you enjoy it; if you do, please pass it on to your friends and spread the love :)
Oh, I'm sorry you had such a bad week. I can relate, I've had a pretty shitty couple of weeks myself. The dual cat deaths & then some horrendous drama involving my oh, so dysfunctional parents. Currrently, my mom has morphed into some sort of evil witch for Halloween I guess. I made the mistake of saying something that sort of resembled sticking up for my dad, & she went ballistic! She's in a huge angry/bitter/revengeful phase at the moment it would seem. I'm gonna' stay away from those 2...it's just madness! So, I've been pretty stressed & annoyed lately-but it's starting to wear off me now (thank goodness). It's no wonder why I grew up so fucking twisted! There was really no chance at all for me to turn out "normal" given my bizarre family. It's a miracle I didn't blow my brains out long ago really. I guess all those drugs kept me "sane"! Haha! Oh well, you know we all stumble & fall into those tar pits from time to time. I call them "black holes" actually. I find the only real comfort is to ride out the depression knowing that change is always around the corner. All waves have the descent, the lowest part, then the ascent back up to the peak. If you stick around long enough, you'll move back up to the top again. Oh, I had pancakes once again for dinner over the weekend. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, it's really just such a comforting thing isn't it? Hot, buttery, fluffy pancakes covered in maple syrup. HP Lovecraft; hmmmmm "Hot Pancake"? His short stories are sooooo grand aren't they? Right now, there's an IHOP calling your name, ~C*

Hey Marquis~ did you ever get the pics I sent you (to the other email addy) of the hairy starfish succulent & it's many penoids? I went outside to check it out today & another hairy starfish is in bloom + there are several NEW penoids! The thing is PENOIDING all over the place!!! Clusters of penoids! Penoidariffic!
Other than the penoidification, yet a second cat bit the dust. Yes, 2 cats out of 4 bit the dust w/in 1 week! Can you believe it? This one "Bug" caught pneumonia & her lungs were completely filled with gunk. She couldn't breathe w/out oxygen (yes, a little mask!), & didn't respond to the antibiotic treatment, therefore had to be "put down". Madness-I didn't even know cats could get pneumonia, but there you go. They suspected she might have had some odd kind of cancer, which was why her immune system couldn't fight off the pneumonia. At any rate-we'll never know, so it will remain a mystery. Oh, I sent a couple pics of the toad lily blossom too. That particular plant I found ripped out of the pot today! Some critter must have uprooted it-little bastards! I re-potted it, so hopefully it'll be ok. Cheers, ~C*
