自我介紹

關於我:

Marco de Groot is a heavy metal drummer, who has played for the bands Altar, Ordo Draconis, Mourning, Restricted Area, Outbreak, Abyss and Blind Justice, and is now playing with Dutch Death Metal Assault HOUWITSER. He is from Gouda, The Netherlands.

Houwitser:
Marco was recommended by Houwitser bassplayer Ramon to complete the new line-up, which was carefully selected by founding member Michel. The furious raging metal assault now is ready to spread their extreme death metal all over the world. Beware of the Terror Legion!

Ordo Draconis:
Just After the recording of the album “Camera Obscura” with a session drummer, the band was looking for a drummer to do promotional gigs for the album. OD trialled Marco with nine songs, and he had to continually practice to bring the very difficult new songs to perfection. It resulted in a number of very successful gigs , however, internal problems in the band caused a line-up change once again, with singer Tyrann and bassplayer BM (who left to be session mucisian, also for OD!) not to be replaced. Shortly after that, Marco left the band to join the Ultimate Terror Legion HOUWITSER!

Altar:
Following the departure of Altar drummer Sjoerd Visch in 2000, the band were looking for a new drummer. After trialling several drummers and listening to hundreds of demo tapes, Marco auditioned successfully in 2002. The band toured for over a year promoting Red Harvest, together with bands like Belphegor, Sacred Sin and Entombed, and wished to enter the recording studio to record another as soon as possible. However, on January 2, 2005, Marco announced that he parted ways with Altar to make a switch to the Black Metal legends Ordo Draconis.

Mourning:
Marco was recommended by Mourning guitarist René S. to fill the gap that was filled by a drumcomputer for over 2 years. Mourning (later named Rouwen, and now named Voordorst) trialled Marco in a rehearsal session and however he did not know one song: he made only few errors playing together with the band and the drumcomputer! Although the performances with the band were a lot of fun and extremely successful, Marco left after only 9 months to take over from Sjoerd in Altar.

Restricted Area:
Marco rejoined Restricted Area - a band which he had previously been part of when he also played in Blind Justice - formed with vocalist Ruud Spros, guitarist Ben Spros and bassplayer Ben Noorlander, before the band were named Restricted Area and prior to recording No trespassing from beyond this point. Marco introduced the band to a manager and a record company to help the band gain notice. Since the band needed a drummer, and his friendship with members, Marco was willing to help out. But the reviews of the album were really bad. As a result of that, Marco and bassplayer Ben Noorlander left the band.

Abyss:
Marco received a phone call from Abyss' manager, who asked him to join the band to fill the gap that Dirk Bruijneberg left after the recording of Abyss’ demo The Phrases of Sin. He talked to guitarist Peter if they should recruit Marco. When Marco received the phone call, one member had already left Abyss, and two more members were thinking about leaving. The chemistry between members was very different, and Marco left the band after only one gig: "I wasn’t having very much fun with Abyss and it’s not for me”.

Blind Justice:
Blind Justice was Marco’s first band to enter recording studios with. He recorded several demo tapes and an album (Sax & Violins) with them. It was a band of real good friends, having a great time. Marco toured with Blind Justice for 4 years; he did a lot of successful gigs with them, departing in 1993 after a fight with lead singer Atilla. Ironically, Atilla is yet the only original bandmember left after fighting with all the other original BJ-bandmembers!
