Bio
Born in Pisa, Italy, and based in the New York City area, Marco has been playing bass guitar and writing music for the past 27 years. He began his music studies at age 8 on acoustic guitar but it wasn't until later on that he had the opportunity to play the bass guitar. This happened when his brother asked him to join his rock'n'roll band. Originally self taught he began studying with various teachers as he realized that music was becoming a carreer. .. A few years later he moved to the U.S. to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, after having being awarded a scholarship at the Berklee Summer Clinics at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy. After graduating summa cum laude in composition and performance he relocated to the New York City area upon being offered a three year residency at the NYU New Music And Dance Ensemble at New York University. He now lives in Jersey City, NJ. .. Over the years Marco had the pleasure to perform with many talented artists such as, Randy Brecker, Lew Soloff, Andy Anderson, Tony Trischka, Yanick Etienne, Kristy Cates, and Sigourney Weaver. His radio and TV credits include Fox, MTV, MTVLA, NJN, WISC-TV, E Town, WBQX, WFUV, WNJU, and WRUW. His compositions have been performed in Europe and the United Sates. .. In addition to performing and writing Marco also teaches bass guitar, acoustic bass, beginner guitar, improvisation, composition, and theory to all ages students in his studio in Jersey City, NJ, and "in house" within 40 miles of the NY/NJ metropolitan area. He also teaches by email, snail mail, and skype. If you would like to study with Marco, feel free to contact him. -
