Marco Castelli was born in Milan on the 29th February 1972. He is a bass player, he plays many other instruments and he is a composer, a producer and an arranger too. When he was six he began to study piano and classical guitar until he took his degree in piano. He fatally took part at his first concert at the age of thirteen, replacing the bass player, in his eldest brother's band, who was injured. Since that day he decided that bass would have been his instrument for the life. This symbiosis led up to years of study, in which he specialized in 4, 5 and 6 strings bass techniques both fretted and fretless. He has played with Wisdom (Los Angeles tour, 1991), Tancredi Palamara, Legend (Open air concert in Germany, France and Switzerland, supporting Glenn Hughes – ex Deep Purple), Tomato (Giorgio Vanni), Biagio Antonacci, Ramon Rossi, Joe Squillo (1993/1994 Tour), Polsi Sciolti (finalist as best Italian band in Budokan – Japan), Leano Morelli, Linea 5, Dik Dik, Luigi Schiavone (Ruggeri), Corda Tesa, Cardio, Meccano (placed as 2nd and 3th in 2 consecutive years in the category ”big” at the Sanremo Festival), Pino Scotto (Vanadium), the great Umberto Iervolino, Vantage (who recorded with “Ebony Records” label in 1997), I Mucianga, Giovanni Giorgi, Zucchero Fornaciari, Gipsy Drom (with two ex guitarists of the Gipsy Kings), Fabio Casali 4Tet, Celebration 70', Rezophonic, Village Metropolitan Band, Max Corfini (I Punti di Vista), 4Ever, Ermanno Principe, Sergio Pescara, Efta Plastic di Marco Faraci, Tomo Globo. In 1994 he formed a band : the Farenaith with Gabriele Fersini (guitarist of Eros Ramazzotti, Laura Pausini, Biagio Antonacci) and supported various Italian artists (De André). He has played in several jazz fusion line-ups, with both Italian and international jazz musicians. In 1996 he formed a duo: the "Round Midnight” and they toured Italy giving concert on a 6 string fretless bass and vibes with the jazz vibraphonist Donato Scolese (Battiato band). He worked as session musician for different recording studios. In 2001 he played bass on the Ker records (Sony music), which entered the charts in Holland, Spain and Germany. He took part in many TV shows: Festivalbar, Cantagiro……; After these experiences he has decided to become the composer, the musician, the arranger and the artistic producer of his first solo instrumental album, where the bass lords it as it can be expected from the title “Basso Continuo”. In this album he plays all the instruments (except for percussions) in all the nine pieces. The review expressed on several specialized magazine like Bassist UK, Bass Professor, Players, Bass Players… is excellent! In 2003 he recorded an album "Io non ci sto" with the "BOOM", Metalmaster label, where he played the bass and the keyboards, collaborating to the texts and music composition. Besides he arranged and produced all the tracks. In 2004 he completed a collection of cover played only with the bass, titled "The New Standards", he appears also on various compilation in national sphere as: New Age Music, New Sounds, All This Jazz…. Currently (beyond the production of varies musical artists) he is promoting his CD with his band "Marco Castelli – M. C. Project” on stage. The realization of his new effort as solo is moreover completed. The new CD entitled ”XXIX Anima” (Valery Records,Label) is produced by Marco Castelli e Marco Guarnerio. The album has been recorded in various locations between Milan and Santa Monica (CA). It sees the collaboration of many musicians belonging to the worldwide panorama: Micheal Nigro, Sergio Fabretti, Serena Zerri, David Stern, Steve Angarthal, Marco Faraci, Ronda Shear. He is now realizing the production of the guitarist David Stern’s new solist cd. From 03/21/08, Marco Castelli is on tour with the rock icon in Italy Pino Scotto (Vanadium).

Suona in diverse formazioni Jazz Fusion con musicisti italiani e stranieri appartenenti al panorama Jazz. Lavora come turnista e produttore artistico in diversi studi di registrazione. Nel 2001 registra i bassi per il disco di Ker (Sony Music) entrato nelle chart in Olanda, Spagna e Germania. Partecipa a diverse trasmissioni tv: Festivalbar, Cantagiro In seguito decide di avventurarsi come compositore, musicista, arrangiatore e produttore artistico nel suo primo album solista strumentale “Basso Continuo”, dove il basso la fa da padrone. In questo album suona tutti gli strumenti dei 9 brani contenuti eccetto le percussioni. Ottima la critica a riguardo con recensioni su vari magazine di settore: Bassist UK, Bass Professor, Players, Bass Players… Nel 2003 ha registrato l’album “Io non ci sto” dei BOOM!!!, etichetta Metalmaster, dove oltre a suonare il basso e le tastiere, ha collaborato alla composizione dei testi e delle musiche, investendo anche il ruolo di arrangiatore e produttore di tutti i brani. Nel 2004 pubblica una raccolta di cover esclusivamente suonate con il basso dal titolo “The new standards”. Appare anche su diverse compilation nazionali: New Age Music, New Sounds, All This Jazz…. Attualmente, oltre alla produzione di svariati artisti e generi musicali, sta promuovendo i suoi cd con la sua band “Marco Castelli – M.C. Project ” on stage!!! Sempre live ed in studio sta lavorando al nuovo progetto dei Boom in trio con il fondatore Claudio Muciaccia ed il batterista Walter Calloni. Ha inoltre terminato la realizzazione della sua nuova fatica come solista: “XXIX Anima”. Dal 21 marzo 2008 al 3 Gennaio 2009 (con più di 80 show in tutta Italia) Marco Castelli è stato in tour il rocker Pino Scotto (ex Vanadium).
