Marco Marconi Jazz Pianist & Composer, Italy.
I started out in music on the clarinet and then soon moved on to the piano, studying privately with Maestro Mauro Nadir Matteucci and winning my diploma from the Conservatory “F Morlacchi” in Perugia at twenty two with honours, which is very rarely awarded to any who have studied outside of the Conservatory.
I went on to win several competitions including the National Competition “Città di Campomorone” (Genova) in 1995, the International Competition “Guido Monaco” World Competition (Arezzo) and the “A Gori” Sarteano Competition (Siena) in 2002. In 1998, I took part in the annual competition at “La Fenice”, Venice, available only to the top graduates from the Italian music colleges. I also played in many other numerous competitions both nationally and internationally with excellent results.
Later, I followed “courses of perfectionism” with Maestro Carlo Alberto Neri, professor at the Conservatory “F. Morlacchi” in Perugia and Maestro Riccardo Risaliti, professor at the Conservatory “G Verdi” in Milano as part of the “Festival of Nations”, a yearly international music festival held at Città di Castello (PG).
Only 8 years ago, I turned to jazz and studied for and gained a second diploma in 2005 at the Conservatory “F. Morlacchi” in Perugia, this time in Jazz under the tutorlage of Maestro Paolo Di Sabatino, where I was again awarded maximum votes. I have continued to further my studies in jazz under the guidance of Ramberto Ciammarughi, noted pianist and composer on the European jazz scene and also with jazz workshops with Ciammarughi, Massimo Moriconi, Fabio Zeppetella, Umberto Fiorentino and John Arnold.
In 2002, I won a competition as accompanist at the Conservatory “F. Morlacchi” in Perugia, and still currently hold this post. This year sees the end of my studies to gain a Post Graduate in Jazz from the Conservatory.
As a jazz soloist I perform regularly in Italy and also in duo formation or with my own jazz band!
