Check out: www.myspace.com/phatcatswinger to see my full band.
What you hear on this page are songs that I wrote or had part in writing, except Juicy Fruit -Originally by Rudy Green - performed by The Barrel House Boys - April 2009.
"A day in the life of..." was written one late night and it was all improvised. Track by track... I didn't feel like going back to fix my lyrics, lol... I wanted to capture the story as it came to me. That's why you'll hear some lyrics stuttered, once the Phat Cat album comes out, it'll all be fixed ;) p.s. all instruments minus the Bari Sax were played & recorded by myself
Never Feel The Same, performed by Choad Effect w/guests: Phat Cat Swinger Horn Section.
Midnight Tango: Performed by Phat Cat Swinger and vocals by yours truly!
Jumpin' From LB2DC: Performed by Phat Cat Swinger
Crimson: Performed by Phat Cat Swinger

Influences
The music, showmanship & playing of Sam Butera, Louis Jordan, Jimmy Dorsey, The Bird, Cannonball, Coltrane, Rollins, Bobby Darin, Louis Prima, Benny Goodman, Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton and many more...
Sounds Like
Come to a show and tell me what you think ;) Do know this... There is a different feel and sound for every band I play in... You may notice a few things all in common, but each feel will be different. It's like a different Marco on Sax every night!
Instruments I use:
Alto: Selmer Reference 54 (Hummingbird) gift from mom, thanks!
Tenor Sax: Yamaha-52 : gift from dad ;)
Becker Violin - gift to myself
Old school Yamaha PSR-32 keyboard
Old guitar donated by Glenn & Beverly Lane. Thanks!!!
Bass Guitar given to me by my pops. Thanks Dad.
I record on protools.
All in all, I thank God for blessing me with my talent
I would like to thank my mom for listening to Benny Goodman & Glen Miller... and my pops listening to everything from the Beatles to Juan Gabriel and so much more, there was a wide variety of music that I was exposed to as a young kid. It wasnt until I was four that I began to explore with many different instruments. Though they were plastic & not real, I still had a fascination with these toys. My parents eventually invested in the instrument that would change my life forever.
A two year old Yamaha Student Alto Saxophone was the first real instrument I ever owned. Practicing night & day I worked hard to catch up with the rest of the kids in school. Eventually all the hard work payed off. However, I knew I still needed more instruction to be where I wanted to be. It wasnt until the year 2002 that I met an amazing sax player that I looked up to named Karl Hunter. Karl took me in & began to show me things on the sax I didn't know I was capable of. It really opened up a new world for me. That same year, I got together with musicians Matthew Burdick on Drums & Will Pattinson on Bari Sax to put together something with an pleasantly old classic sound. Matthew being influenced by Gene Krupa, Will by Gerry Mulligan & Me... well, I guess you can say I have the energy of Sam Butera, Louis Prima & Determination of Bobby Darin all together. When we put it all together, we created Phat Cat Swinger.
This year marks the 6th year since the bands creation. 9 Members make up the phat sound of the band, recently weve been blessed and fortunate enough to share the stage at the House of Blues with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and the Blue Cafe with Royal Crown Revue. We've played with Poncho Sanchez as well as The Coasters. We even got called as the backing band for Christina Aguileras "Candyman" music video. That was fun!
The energy felt on stage has brought many to say that they thought Gene Krupa, Sam Butera & Louis Prima were all up on stage performing in spirit. Its no lie, Phat Cat Swinger puts on a show with so much energy, you may actually leave very tired at the end of a show. I know I do sometimes, lol...
Phat Cat Swinger is a journey for me. Though Im happy with the success weve been blessed with... Im still spreading my wings and just starting to reach out into other avenues to see where the road will take me. I thank God for every opportunity he has given me and I look forward to everything he has in store for me.
Take care all!
Write me a message sometime.
