(Naples, Italy 1962) Marco Zurzolo graduated in Flute, in Jazz Composition and in Saxophone at the Conservatory of Music in Naples. Over time, the saxophone has become his principal instrument. During his career, he has had several different musical experiences, collaborating with many Italian and international artist, among these:Archie Shepp, Chet Baker, Solomon Burkes,Roscoe Mitchell, Van Morrison, Billy Preston,Brian Ferry,Renaud-garçia Fons, Kocani Orkestar, Rita Marley Don Moye and Art Ensemble of Chicago, Mike Minieri, Enrico Pierannunzi, Marc Johnson (who collaborated in the 2005 CD “7 e mezzo”), Ensemble Vocale di Napoli (Chor.Dir. Antonio Spagnolo: Officium Defunctorum, Cristobal de Morales, arr. for Chorus and Sax Soprano soloist).
Teacher of Jazz Saxophone in the Conservatory of Salerno.
2008 Director of the Festival Ischia Jazz.
Since 1995 he started composing. Since then he published nine CDs, the tenth is in preparation and it will be published in July 2008 by EGEA publishing. His Cds are distributed all over Europe and Canada.
He composed music for many cinema movies, theatre pieces and television. For his composition and his activity he was assigned many awards and prize, among the others “il premio qualità” of the Italian Minstry of Culture.
