Marcos Lopez is one of the young musicians coming out of the island of Puerto Rico that are making marks in the music world. Coming from a musical family he began hitting Congas and Timbales since he was two years old. In his third year at Berklee College of Music with a full scholarship he is part of a new era of musicians and artist that are changing the music business.
A Music Business/Management Major at Berklee he is interested in both sides of the business wanting to become a artist plus a business man himself.
He is able to perform in different styles of music and percussion instruments in part to the variety of teachers that he gotten instructed by since he was five years old including his Dad, uncle, Anthony Carrillo, David Marcano, Chago Martinez, John Blackwell, John Ramsey, Mike Mangini, Ernesto Diaz, Victor Mendoza, Giovanni Hidalgo and Eguie Castrillo plus all the musicians that has inspired him directly and indirectly.
Marcos has been blessed in recording and performing with salsa stars like N'Klabe (where he recorded two cd's plus traveled the world), Victor Manuelle, Gilberto Santa Rosa, reggaeton stars Wisin & Yandel and shared stages with Ruben Blades, Paoli Mejias, Giovanni Hidalgo, Tito Nieves, Cachao, Marc Quiñones, Sheila E., Roberto Roena, Steve Windwood,Dave Valentin, Oskar Cartaya, Rosa Passos, Mario Rivera, Luis Enrique, Ralph Irrizary, Tito DeGracia and more just to name a few at his short age!
He has given percussion clinics at The Montreal Drum Fest and in the Percussion Festival in Puerto Rico, plus he has performed at the Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden, Coliseo De Puerto Rico, Ryles Club, Beantown Jazz Festival and Reggata Bar in Boston, Heineken Jazz Fest and the Monterey Jazz Fest in California plus a lot of other venues in different cities around the world.
He plays Latin Percussion Instruments, Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets and Zildjian Cymbals exclusively.
