   About Marcus Chapman

About Me

I discovered the wonders of the piano and composing at the young age of three, and from that discovery, my parents sought Piano lessons for me. I gained my grade 8 and studied for my diploma in Piano when I was thirteen. Gained some experience in piano teaching for the LCM for a little while and now I am studying for my Bmus at Canterbury Christ Church, with the intent to gain a Mmus afterwards.

My favourite genres are mainly in metal but I listen to alot of Classical and Jazz. Music I like at the moment is as follows; Evergrey, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Meshuggah, To-Mera, Pain of Salvation, Threshold, Sonata Arctica, Strapping Young Lad, Death, Level 42, Bill Evans Trio, Chick Corea, Keith Jarett, ELP and Insignia.

With the Metal interest in mind I joined a band called ‘Crimson Tears’ when I was 16 and released a EP and Album (which I wrote half the music for) which was recorded at Thin Ice Studios, which is famed for bands such as 'Dragonforce', 'Threshold', 'Arena', 'Powerquest' and 'Intense'.Click here to listen to my old band.

I am available for session work in the music industry and for comissions involving compositions (such as film scores etc…) and also for teaching piano, keyboards and theory.
